The 3DS hasn’t sold very well. The bad launch lineup, the hefty price tag, and a name too similar to the original DS has keptĀ theĀ 3DS from becoming the successful product Nintendo envisioned.


On August 12th of this year, Nintendo will cut the price of the 3DS from $249.99 to $169.99. This is within 6 months of its release, so the announcement of the price cut came as quite a shock.

It’s great news for everyone who doesn’t own a 3DS, but what about early adopters?
Nintendo didn’t forget their loyal fans. If you purchase a 3DS before the price cut, Nintendo will give you 10 free NES virtual console games and 10 free GBA virtual console games, which can all be played on the 3DS.

To join in the Ambassador program, you have to log in at the eshop on your 3DS before 11:59 on August 23rd.

Note that the 10 GBA games given out for free to the early adopters are exclusive! They will not be for sale in the eshop (at least initially).

So far, Nintendo has only released the names of 5 NES games and 5 GBA games, and they are as follows:
