One swift kick, and Goron went down with a heavy grunt. The hammer skidded a little to the left as the rest of the group came vaulting over the rocks to join Torianna and Lorcan. The Goron was struggling to heft his massive weight off the ground, and his round beady eyes were glancing between his assailants with a combination of confusion and outrage.
Rueben had launched himself onto the back of the poor guard before he had a chance to get out so much as a word. Standing himself between the broad shoulder blades of this massive being, Rueben brought one foot down sharply on the Goron's head. With a deep, pitiful moan, he went out like a light.
"You could have killed him!" Maia admonished, but the thief only shook his head in response.
"Not a chance," he replied, jumping off the guard's back. "Gorons have skin and skulls as strong as steel. He'll be fine. Now come on, we've got to move quickly. He won't be out for long."
It took Cheval two attempts to heave the weapon up off the ground, and he had to pause briefly before he could tip it's weight back over his shoulder. Meanwhile, Torianna crouched down beside the unconscious guard. His fat, thick lips were parted slightly, those beady blue eyes pressed closed. She could hear him breathing as she slipped the folded receipt into his bag. He was definitely alive. He was going to recover.
Still, none of them felt good about what they'd done as they began to trail back up Death Mountain. Torianna walked a few paces behind Cheval, who was flanked on either side by Lorcan and Endel. As they progressed, Rueben stepped into pace with her.
"He's a smart cookie, your buddy; Endel," he said quietly, giving Torianna one of his distinguished smiles. "Not quite as much of a do-gooder as I expected. Maybe your pals aren't such bad company after all. Though that other boy seems grumpy as hell, and Endel's girlfriend's a bit of a drip..."
"Lorcan and Maia," she corrected him. She didn't say the other thought on her mind: that Rueben's presumptions were horrifically wrong. He knew nothing about her friends. What's worse is that a month ago, she might have agreed with him.
Rueben pressed his mouth closed for a moment, his tired eyes squinting as though he were thinking. A few seconds of silence passed before he said: "Do you have as much fun working with them as you used to with me?"
"Apples and oranges, Rueben," she sighed. "Apples and oranges."

The trek back out of the desert was long and miserable, though Endel was thankful nobody else offered to visit the Great Fairy; they didn't have enough food and water left to make that stop anyway. Even after the sun went down, they walked through the sand and darkness because nobody felt like sleeping on that joyless evening. There didn't seem to be any reason to keep going, other than to fight a hopeless battle against a divine force bent on their destruction, but some stubbornness kept their legs moving. Endel found it best not to think to much and just follow his gut since there wasn't any higher calling for him to serve now. He was already finished with that spiritual garbage for good.

Travelling in a straight line made the trip out of the desert much quicker, and a kernel of relief lifted Endel's spirits when he stepped off the desert sand and onto the bridge connected to Lanayru. They camped that night just off the road, a stone's throw from where they'd crossed back from the desert, and not even Cheval said a word about their exposed location or the lack of a posted watch. Endel didn't bother with a tent either; he laid out his bedroll and slept under the stars outside Maia's tent, in case someone tried to attack them in the night.

For a little while, Endel thought about Torianna as he lay there under the sky. He'd treated her awfully, and it turned out she was completely right to call him out. If only he'd listened to her concerns, he could have stopped his righteous prostration and started doing what was best for him and his friends again. But no, he'd been to desperate to change his ways for Maia and the others, he wasn't about to become his old self again just because of Torianna's protests. But try as he might, he couldn't make up his mind either way, and so he fell into a troubled sleep.

    ---

The next morning, he was awakened by a loud whistle as a bolt of fire streaked overhead. It landed far away, somewhere in the direction of Faron Woods, but he never heard the impact. It was a strange phenomenon, but he was too jaded to think of it as anything other than a weird happening that probably had some logical explanation. Or maybe Volvagia was already making his moves to smite them all, now that his secret was out? Endel shrugged to himself and began preparing breakfast. They would be moving fast in the direction of Death Mountain this morning, and he had a feeling it was going to be a very long day.

The streets of Eastern Castle Town were still mostly roped off around the crumbling and destroyed pitfalls where Kazdan had wreaked havoc. Even so, the place felt like a graveyard to Endel now; he'd never had the stomach to ask Ashei how many people had died in the fighting. The official death count would probably just make him sick, and getting angry wouldn't bring back any of his friends. Skallin was gone for good no matter how much he wanted otherwise. Endel peered over into the ruined pit that had once been the site of Kazdan's demise. "I don't know if you can hear me, Skallin," he called down into the ruin, "but I wanted you to know everyone's doing okay now. We're all working hard to save Hyrule... to help all those people you died for... so wherever you are, I hope you can rest easy." His vision blurred with tears as he backed away from the chasm. After taking a moment to regain his composure, he left the ruins behind to return to his mission.

Heading straight for Hyrule Castle, Endel was unsurprised to find Lorcan and Torianna had finished ahead of him. "I guess Maia is still busy at the castle. Did you guys find anything?" he asked. Lorcan made a gesture of drinking and then a thumbs-up, which Endel concluded was a sign people were able to drink the water again. Torianna gave a halfhearted nod and looked away, which Endel thought was unusual.
"Something the matter, Torianna?" he asked.
"Nothing really, just thinking about stuff." she replied nonchalantly.
Endel decided not to press her about it in public. "Maia should be coming back soon enough. I remember how to get back to The Advisor now; there's a hidden tunnel beneath the far end of the courtyard. It leads straight to a hidden graveyard, which is where he lives I guess. It's kind of weird, but this trip will definitely pay off, I can feel it." The others seemed to buy into his unflinching optimism now, and the excitement chased off Endel's remaining melancholy from earlier. Things seemed to be slowly turning back in their favor.

I flinch as it comes down again, my arms buckling a little under the force. I can feel blood seeping through my clothes and onto the floor, but we've only just hit two hundred.
Outside, over the cracks, I hear Fintan, shouting something delightedly to whoever else is with him.
Suddenly, just as another lash hits, the tent flaps are thrown open. Immediately I jump to my feet, spinning to see who it is.
Fintan stands in the entrance to the tent, looking appalled. "What...?"
"Fintan, we're busy," I tell him. "Leave."
"No," he says firmly. "What have you done that deserves this kind of punishment?"
"I thought that you of all people would know, Fintan," I say drily. "I've done an awful lot in the past few days."
"But this, Caoilainn..." he trails off, looking to Sheik. I look over my shoulder, sending a warning glare in the chief's direction.
"She asked, Fintan," he says. "She was... insistent."
"Please, Fintan," I say. "This is humiliating. I don't want you to see this. Please leave."
He seems at war with himself, his emotions and logical thoughts duelling each other relentlessly.
I wait, blood dripping from me, for his response.

In the end, bob the cadaver learned all he needed to be happy in life was to be bob the cadaver, not anyone else.

((yeah this RP was a lot of fun guys! It was great to do!))

Slowly, the plans begin to take shape. The construction of a new settlement around the fallen island begins, one that allows the Sheikah to live integrated amongst the Hylains. It's the easiest way to for us to protect them subtly.
In this new settlement, Melaina and I build a cosy little home our own, and we fill it with our hearts and memories. We won't spend all of our time here, what with so much out there for us in the surface, but it's a lovely feeling to have a home to return to. I know that sentiment is shared by my friends, who live close to us.
"It's remarkable," I say one afternoon as we stroll into the centre of the new town. "To see all these people living under the harmonious rule protected by Hylia..."
"Hylia's rule..." Caoilainn mutters, thoughtful. "Hyrule..."
    I smile. "I think I like that..."
And maybe its just sentiment, but I can't help but think that this is how things were meant to be, right from the start.

((And I think that's my last post for Fintan! I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for doing this RP with me. I've had loads of fun and I hope you did too! Knuckle, you'll want to speak to Franne about the fanfiction, she's in charge of writing at the moment! And I'm really looking forward to your RP! I hope to see you all there!

Rules: No racism, sexism, homophobia, or transphobia. Be respectful and polite to other RPers. Just don't be rude and we'll all get along just fine!

Setting: This loosely follows on from Adventure in Skyloft, though will mainly be set among the Sheikah tribe rather than focusing on the Knight Academy students. New OC's will be used, so feel free to join even if you weren't in AIS! This is set just after Link, Zelda, and the other students have moved down from Skyloft to settle on the Surface which they now believe to be at peace. Yet, unknown to them, there's evil lurking in the shadows...

Before you start playing, be sure to fill out a character profile so other RPers know how to interact with your character:

    Name: Fintan
    Gender: Male
    Age: 17
    Race: Sheikah
Physical Appearance: Sandy hair, amber eyes, tanned skin. He's tall, fairly muscular but not excessively so with the Sheikah eye tattooed on the inside of his wrist. He wears simple leather armour to allow for movement, and keeps his long hair pulled back in a short ponytail at all times.
Short Personality Description: He was raised by the Sheikah elders from birth as his parents were lost in a battle. He's not the strongest, but is agile and flexible enough to be a powerful fighter. He takes his meditation extremely seriously, maintaining the belief that one should have a healthy connection between mind, body and soul in order to understand one's surroundings and anticipate approaching danger. However, he has little focus for anything but his orders and his mission, which can cause irritation to those around him.

"I come bearing news..." I announce as I enter the Temple of Spirit. Many members of the tribe are gathered around. The tribal elders are just finishing a ritual prayer to Hylia as I approach the group. The juniors are sat cross legged on the floor, watching in silence, observing. And as for the warriors and the observers, they turn from their tasks, offering me silent nods as greeting.
Sheik, tribe leader, steps forward from where he was previously sharpening spears. His blood red eyes turn to me, offering me his full attention.
"Fintan, what news do you bring?" he asks.
"I was patrolling the western Faron region..." since the Statue of the Goddess returned to the Surface and destroyed Demise, I'd been instructed to keep the area under close observation. "It appears to me that a small settlement has been erected just east of the the Sealed Temple."
Sheik carefully lays his spear and blade down on the table, before approaching me. "Of what significance is this?" he asks.
"It's not an ordinary settlement," I say. "The settlers... they're Hylians. They've brought the great birds of the Sky. And, if I'm not mistaken, I believe that the Mortal Goddess and the Chosen Hero are among them."

We dash outside the academy, followed by the teachers, the headmaster and other students.
My heart is pounding against my chest. What the hell happened? We push ourselves a way between all of the residents of Skyloft and I bump into Callia when she suddenly stops.
"Callia why did you- O my goddess," I whisper.
Beneath the statue of the goddess where there used to be nothing but grey rocks was now a giant circular white building.
"That looks like a dungeon..." Link whispers.
My breath is taken away. It looks beautiful, but how did it get there? Had it always been there? All those years?
"It must have been a plan of goddess Hylia herself..." Callia breathes.
"But who revealed it? Who could have been so stupid to steal the stone from Link without knowing what it would reveal?" Emzy says.
"Biggest question is, who knew the stone was there?" I say.
"Well it must have been one of us- Oh no..." Callia sighs.
    "What?" I ask.
She looks down. "It must have been Zurin..."

"To the temple I guess..." Pipit mutters, looking up at the large sweeping dome above them. Pipit frowns, staring at the domed roof, cracked in half, with no sign as to the location of the rest of the roof
"What is it?" Calla asks, standing next to him and trying to find his source of interest.
"That roof looks familiar..." he mutters, a frown embedded deep on his brow.
"Don't think about it!" Brylarly says "Come on, we'd better catch up with Emzy and Karane!" She gestures ahead of them to where the two girls are already walking towards the large double doors to the temple.
"I can't believe how big this place is!" Emzy exclaims as they catch up to her.
Karane nods "Yeah, you could probably fit the whole of Skyloft onto that spiral with room to spare!"
Suddenly a strange squelching noise arises from in front of them as a strange looking flower erupts up from the ground. It's head is larger than a humans, and it's jaws drip with a strange yellowish-green saliva as it dives for Karane. She jumps back out of it's range.
There's lots of swooshing as swords are pulled from scabbards, Pipit strikes the flora over it's head, but it simply shakes it's head in reaction before making a dive for him, wrapping his waist in it's jaw. He yelps in surprise, but Emzy is quick to react. She wrenches Pipit from the creatures jaw, and as it makes a dive for her, she blocks with her shield. It sways back, temporarily stunned, giving her a window to slice along his jaw line. It's limp head falls to the ground, before disapearing in a puff of mystical purple fog.
"What the hell was that..." Callia mutters.
"I don't know..." Pipit replies "But good thinking Emzy."
She nods, storing her sword back in it's scabbard "Come on, let's get to that temple, we need to find Link."

As they land on the roof of the knight academy, they're greeted by Pipit jogging towards them.
"Geeze hurry up" he mumbles, frantically gesturing for them to come in.
"What's up?" Callia asks, tossing her long blonde hair over her shoulder as her and Emzy make their way towards the door.
"Some kind of emergency, I don't know exactly what yet, but hurry up!" He ushers them inside and carefully closes the door behind them. The three make their way down the halls of the knight academy.
"Why am I suddenly worried?" Emzy asks, a frown evident on her innocent face...

"Let me get this straight" Callia laughs as they swooped closer and closer to the island "You spend all your time on your loftwing and you STILL beat me at archery and sword fighting, how does this work again?"
Emzy just smirks, diving into the lead ahead of Callia "Link taught me archery, Pipit taught me how to sword fight, and you know how much I love my loftwing..."
Callia just rolls her eyes as the two of them approach the golden treasure chest resting on that tiny island.

She's worried about the disappearance of her friends and is prepared to do anything to help, the only issue is when wielding a sword... she's less than useless...

As Callia mounted her brown and white feathered loftwing, she let out a soft laugh, flicking her long hair.
"Have you always sucked so bad at loftwing flying?" She grinned at her best friend Emzy as the two took flight into the open blue skies...
