Camp Triggerfish is an... interesting map. It's okay in Turf War, I like the gate mechanic, it makes for an interesting last minute of the match. I'm not too used to the layout just yet, but I'd say this is probably one of the less predictable maps? The fact that it's a circle makes for less chokepoint-ey games. The enemy team can always be invading your base whilst you invade their base, totally missing it. If you never check the map like I do lmao! I like the map, though. It's a nice, fresh setting as well away from all the industrial/urban maps.

Tower Control on it is super fun though. Super puppying tense, the tower is always floating over the water for 90% of the game. And I finally got to A- Rank thanks to this stage wooooooop woop. I hope Splat Zones is like, somewhat fun, at least on this map. There aren't many where it is... lol. Bluefin Depot, Arowana Mall and Port Mackerel and that's basically it.

Also this image from the current Japanese Splatfest... the teams being Lemon Tea and Milk Tea... the latter team's ink colour... I feel bad for laughing at this put this colour in our versions immediately:

oooooh time to look at the history books and see what they suggest

ok so, I see a lot of people justifying their arguments with appeals to capitalism and the idea that a free market will solve homophobia or any other form of bigotry (because the homophobes will be less popular as suppliers of goods and services and this will pressure them to change their ways). This appeal to the power of capitalism is perhaps true in some instances, but doesn't really apply here. The reason is simple; isolated bigotry is a very different beast from systematic oppression, and what we are dealing with in stuff like gay/civil rights is the latter.

To clarify, isolated bigotry is just any one guy or small collective of people being unusually racist/sexist/transphobic or whatever. They don't majorly influence the community but if you're someone they hate then they'll go out of their way to harass or demean you in some way. If they own a business they'll apply their prejudices to their practice but nobody approves of it so eventually things will sort themselves out. Systematic oppression is waaaaaay different. This is where a lot of people, perhaps even a majority of people, in a community will cooperate to maintain a status quo of bigotry against some other group. This group makes efforts to keep a status quo, actively preserving their way of life for any of a variety of reasons.

Going back to the historical part of my rant, first off I'll point out that most of the prejudice we deal with in America is of the systematic kind I mentioned above. Slavery, Jim Crow, the KKK, and even the condemnation of gay marriage are all systematic forms of prejudice. Do you know how many times capitalism has dissuaded systematic oppression? Zero times. Even when people lose money by turning away blacks or refusing to marry gay people, they still go on being prejudiced even if it runs their business into the ground. People hate breaking the status quo, even if the consequences are mild as public condemnation, so they get pressured into bigotry by the forces of prejudice in power. Everyone goes with the system, even when it's oppressive, forever or until some force outside the market (like the government) steps in and changes things)

I'd also like to point out that systematic oppression isn't necessarily a bunch of powerful people getting together and engineering a system by which the poor will always be poor, like some sort of Orwellian political system. Sometimes it's just a bunch of people slowly realizing they all don't like minorities or LGBT people so they implicitly cluster together in one community and scare off everyone they hate.

Anyway, let me wrap this up by saying I realize I'm mixing a lot of different kinds of oppression together, but nonetheless I think my point stands based on the history that backs it up. Whether it's black people not being allowed to sit on a bus or gay people not being allowed to get married, systematic oppression always ensures the status quo so well that markets can't fix the prejudice. Government or some other force has to step in and force the market to change, as history suggests these things will never fix themselves.

(also real quick, as to the whole "it's my right to decide when I do and don't want to offer goods and services to people" argument, that's generally considered invalid in America. If you're making business decisions on rationale that isn't financially reasonable, you're hurting the health of the market as a whole and the government can step in and put a stop to it. This is why we have things like government regulations; you aren't allowed to practice business in a way that significantly inconveniences your customers. And yes, denial of service is a significant inconvenience.)

The difference in our choices is that you choose to be a dick, while I just choose to have them in me occasionally. Maybe we could meet up and trade roles sometime?

Didn't some places in Alabama or somewhere in the south end up refusing to officiate ANY marriages cuz if the icky gays can now have marriage, NO ONE WILL GET MARRIAGE? or something dumb and childish like that. It's actually hilarious. Same with all the MOVING TO CANADA/MEXICO/UK posts.

The only bad thing about this ruling is that people on my FB are now donning rainbow icons... people from Scotland... only caring about marriage equality once America does it... nobody saying anything seven months ago when Scotland legalised it... lol ok "allies"

I hope everyone was terrified for a split second also when they saw I replied to a serious discussion thread on this forum especially since its this topic lmao

I went to see the Ant-Man film tonight, fully expecting to be awful superhero garbage, just judging from the trailer I saw. And I honestly enjoyed it, and I neeeeeever enjoy superhero films. I mean, it was completely and utterly dumb, and really cliché, but at least it knew it was a stupid premise, and just rolled along with the comical side of things, instead of being super-serious explosions everywhere like most superhero films. The entire fight scene in the little girl's bedroom was completely worth going to see this. I was in literal tears. Would recommend.

The smell of a freshly-made bed. Like freshly washed sheets/covers/pillows. It's pretty heavenly. But then you don't want to get out of bed the next morning so maybe also a bad thing? lol

I like my various fruit-scented shampoos as well. mandarin + papaya atm. its pleasant you could say.

Food-wise uhhh I guess tea is nice? I don't really drink plain tea all too much, I tend to get flavoured ones. Lemon, raspberry & dragonfruit, strawberry are probably my faves. god bless twinings tea

OH MY GOD just had the most unreal round of Tower Control ever. We were on Arowana Mall, my team got the tower to 25m within the goal, the other team hadn't got the tower anywhere yet. THEN. THREE OF MY TEAM MATES DISCONNECTED. TWO OF THE OTHER TEAM ALSO DISCONNECTED. 2 vs 1. This was like a minute in. But we were super close to the goal, right? Then I got killed. So they started pushing it forward, but I kept coming back and blocking their asses from getting past 25m. So my "team" was still winning. It was really puppying intense. Until 30 seconds left. Got puppying wrecked by sneak attack Roller. I die, they manage to keep advancing, can't respawn and stop them in time until they reach the goal and get a knockout. IT WAS SO FRUSTRATING LOSING I COULD HAVE HAD IT. ALL BY MYSELF I COULD HAVE WON A RANKED MATCH. WITH A SEVERE DISADVANTAGE IN NUMBERS. Until that blunder. I'm not even mad though. It's the most fun I've had with ranked yet. Well a little bit miffed I lost 12 points for that. I've never lost that much before with a knockout!!! Was it because I was so close to winning so I get punished for puppying up at the end??? But whatever I'm gonna totally friend request the two people I played with it was really fun lmao. puppy my teammates tho

Moray Towers is excellent in like all three modes tho, I'm shocked. Even Splat Zones. I tend to find the maps with two zones in Splat Zones are way better than the ones with only one. Especially better than ones like Kelp Dome. Honestly hate that map in Ranked. But yeah it's a super fun map!! Super pretty too. Chargers have got a really good map though, the amount of times I've died to them even in the obvious camping spots is lol. I might consider using a charger weapon if Moray is in the rotation... but yeah I wouldn't use a roller on it. Except Krak-on for ofc beakons. Especially handy in this map.

Also yeah Skyler our translation is a lot less... 90's-reminiscient/"fresher" sounding? lol. A lot of people were freaking out about the final boss and I was like "yeah it was fun, but it wasn't THAT fun" but he apparently is just extremely hammy and ridiculous and uses a lot of fish puns in NA. He just talks like a cliche Nintendo villain in our translation. But apparently it's closer to the original jpn dialogue? But even still yours is a lot better imo as well. Spyke doesn't really have a noticeable accent either. But it's not too big a deal, at least this game isn't too text-heavy. Although I do think Booyah sounds stupid tbh.

But yeah our themes for Splatfest are WAY BETTER, not going to lie lol. I mean for one how do they know what Dogs are in squid land??? Judd is the only not-fish creature alive. And they die in water so how do any of them ride water slides??? It just doesn't make sense. I finally made a decision though. I joined #TeamEating. Because I'm gonna be honest I'd rather spend 8 hours eating all the crap I love in the world rather than 8 hours in a coma. I have no idea which team is going to be more popular though... either option could resonate with the audience for this game. It's exciting!

I basically made myself like raw broccoli. I adore carrots, and I started putting raw broccoli in my salads and I really like the extra crunch it gives. I do need to have a little salad dressing though, whether it's ranch or balsamic vinaigrette or whatever

I'm particular when it comes to cooked veggies, like I won't eat cooked carrots (too mushy), but I enjoy steamed broccoli. I'm okay with grilled zucchini and squash sometimes, I'm usually just not in the mood for it.

Steamed asparagus with lemon juice or parmesan cheese is yummy, though the skinny little kind is better than the fat stalks. I'll usually forget that I've eaten asparagus, then I'll have to go pee later, and be like "WHOAWHAT-oh yeah, I had asparagus last night.."

    reasons why i disagree

then I went on a breakfast rant

I read somewhere that when you're a kid you have more salty/bitter taste receptors in your tongue so you prefer sweet food more, and then it reverses as you become an adult. I totally believe this, there are a ton of foods that I really enjoy now that I hated as a kid (like mustard and salsa, more vegetables and savory food) and I used to be the biggest ice cream nerd out there but now I'll only want it if I'm craving something dairy. like after one little piece of chocolate I'm like "yeah that was great I'm good now"

I also don't like milk chocolate, dark ftw. WITH nuts too, but not peanuts

edit: I forgot this was a thread about food we don't like, I am sorry for just completely turning that around and ranting forever so I just put all that shit in spoiler tags because I feel bad ok. I REALLY LOVE FOOD

Lol who even has had a radish? I mean I'm sure they're bad, but I've never seen then served anywhere or being eaten anywhere.

Mayonnaise is gross. It's more the look of it. It just looks like pure fat or pus or something. If it's on a hamburger, and I don't see it, I can semi tolerate it. Also yes mushrooms are the sickest thing.
  19. LLmao ?✊? liked a post in a topic by Cascade in Least Favourite Foods
Mushrooms. I hate the texture, I hate the taste, I hate how they look, just everything about them. they instantly ruin anything they're added too. They are disgusting and why do people insist on eating them and adding them to everything? If you don't want me having plate envy and taking some of your food, just add mushrooms to it and it'll be safe!!

I also hate mayonnaise. Everything about it makes me gag. Even seeing it just. inspires vomit. Same with mustard. I also agree with guacamole being kind of awful LL lmao

The European categories for the next Splatfest are hilarious omg, I have no idea which I love more.... too bad it's (again) on a weekend where I'm not free during it. And can't cancel the Saturday plans this time. Oh well I'll get some snails for voting I guess. But STILL lame as heckie.

America gets Rollercoasters vs Water Slides, the latter is clearly the better option here folks. Please pick correctly for my sake.

Also Moray Towers is now released, haven't tried it yet but will soon. I hear it's pretty puppyin' crazy though. Especially in tower control. I'm excited!!!
