Ocarina of Time Mirror Shield

Well I earlier I saw a topic about the Fire Temple music changing in OoT. So I though what other changes were there. Of course there's Ganondorfs green blood, but why did they change the Mirror Shield.

Why would they change it from a nice looking moon and star to a duck looking thing with a wrench, and bolts in the middle of it?

They changed it because the original was an Islamic symbol. you can also find that symbol throughout the original Spirit Temple.

(More Islamic stuffs! I wonder why though? )

Why does OoT have so many Islamic symbols though? I don't get it. Is it supposed to be some kind of scary symbol of death or something?

That's strange. I guess that's why you find it in the Spirit Temple.

It's not just the mirror shield. Take a look at the movable blocks, the sign at the entrance to Gerudo fortress, and even the back of Ganondorf's cape. There were a lot of things with Islamic cymbols on them that got changed, though a few are still around if you keep your eyes open.

Anyway, I can see why they would want the symbol removed. If someone stuck a crucifix or a star of david in the game as the symbol for a group of thieves, I bet Christian and Jewish groups would act the same way.

Anything released on the gamecube has the change of symbols.

I had never realized that the symbols had been changed until I began frequenting Zelda forums.

My version of the game, I believe, is the original; my cousin gave it to me about 5 years ago, so I'm guessing he bought it way back when it first came out. But it still has the Islamic star & moon all over everything.

And all of the beautiful red blood. :D
