Personally, in my inexperienced opinion, I would add a little bit more spacing to the right. The blue space is for the navigation bar, right?

I would say that it would be effective, though I do believe it could be a little bit more aesthetically pleasing.

I think that the left bar is a bit to wide, and that the contrast between the warm colours of the top two bars and the cool colours of the rest of the page are conflicting with each other just a little bit too much. Perhaps if you were to select some cooler, less vibrant colours it would seem to fit better.

Just the opinion of a simple 15-year-old.
