Nintendo DSi remodel announced

A newer version of the Nintendo DSi was announced by Nintendo for fourth quarter 2009 in Japan and first quarter 2010 in North America and Europe, featuring larger screens, a longer battery life, and according to Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, "a newer playing style."

"Nintendo DSi LL features not only bigger monitor screens," Iwata said, "but an improved view angle on the screens to make it the first portable system that can be enjoyed with people surrounding the gamer."

The Nintendo DSi LL in Japan and DSi XL elsewhere features two 4.2 inch screens, in comparison to the DSi's 3.25 inches and the DS Lite's three inches, increasing text sizes and precision using the stylus, which is now 4mm longer at 96mm. The DSi XL also comes with a pen-shaped stylus at 129.3mm, but cannot be inserted into the system.

The DSi XL also measures 161 x 91.4 x 21.2 mm (6.34 x 3.6 x 0.83")--1.61x the total volume of the DSi, and 1.48x the volume of the DS Lite. It weighs 314 grams, compared to the DSi's 214g and the DS Lite's 218g. Battery life was also increased to 13-17 hours on the lowest brightness settings, and 4-5 hours on the highest, compared to the 9-14 and 3 hours respectively on the DS Lite. Lastly, it is compatible with all original DS and DSi enhanced games, but again contains no GameBoy game slot.

The Japanese LL will launch on November 21, 2009 in wine Red, Dark Brown and Natural White. No official release dates outside of Japan have been given aside from a first quarter 2010 window for North America and Europe.

Dude, same here, I saved up months of allowance just to get a DSi, and now this? Nintendo really knows how to screw a person over ...
One the bright side, I have a job now, so it won't be that hard to get this one
