Here, I'm gonna take another shot at this, but use sprites instead. If I need to fix the sizes I can do that.

You awake in a dark room, an absence of light. You lay in what is presumably a bed, which has nothing more than a simple woolen blanket and a stiff pillow. What do you do now?

You get up and try to find a window or door to look outside and observe your surroundings. Depending on where you are you make your choice from there. The sun blinds you as you peep out a small door you found. When your eyes adjust you see what is around you. Soft grass and a beautiful blue sky. You travel around to find no other houses, or any signs of people. You are alone.

You clamber out of bed, and stand up. You have vague thoughts of naming yourself, but realize this is stupid, because you already had a name. Your name is Bit Hero. Your parents were drunks, go figure.

Anyhow, you decide to attempt to fluff your pillow, only to find that it is in fact nothing more than a pillowcase. No wonder your neck hurts.

You add the Pillowcase to your inventory. You also decide that you'll call your shadow "Fluffy McCinderpants". You then realize that you have no shadow. You wish you could go back to sleep, but the bed is really uncomfortable, and you just took the pillowcase anyway.

You grope around in the dark for a bit, eventually finding a lightswitch. Thank goodness for electricity.

Of course there's a floor there. Even if it's only one green pixel thick. >>

You step out of the room and are carried into the hallway. The hall ends behind you. In front of you is a table, upon which sits a single unlit candle. The hall continues for some time in front of you.
