Common sense to an artist or something, yeah. You act like I've had prior experience. I haven't even been into anime but for a year now, let alone drawing anything.

It should be common sense to anyone that practicing on the original can help you with something that's more advanced.

That's thinking in a whole different perspective, though. At the time, I wasn't even thinking "hey, this anime person is just another way of drawing a human. If I draw a human, I'll get closer to the real thing and be able to draw anime better."

I was just thinking, "hey, I like Goku so I think I'll draw him. Hey, this is kinda fun. Maybe I should draw some more."

Then you should now think, "Hey, if I want to get good at this, I should practice the source material first." or forever draw things incorrectly.

Or just trace shit.
