The Most Useless Item in Zelda

I agree with everyone about the fishing rod/lamp in any game, Dominion Rod, Magic Armor, any item from the beginning of the game that get upgraded/replaced later, etc.

But, there is also the Spinner (from TP) to some extent. You only use it in Arbiter's Grounds and for a part of Hyrule Castle.

Jeez, TP has a bunch of these, doesn't it.

every starting shield in the 3d games because the only attacks you ever have to block are guess what fire attacks and guess what happens to your wooden shield when touched by fire.

The wooden shield was always extremely useful to me just because it could burn off :P

i'd have to say the hammer in WW is the most useless because its slow

i will defend the spinner from tp my only complaint is that it kick you off to fast if you not on a track

i dont see the point in the flute in sprite tracks it has no real use outside if the songs you play with the sages

That's like saying "I don't see the point of the ocarina in Ocarina of Time. All it does is play music."

Yeah. That's what musical instruments do. That's the point. They also open up pathways and are genuinely cool, so. The musical instruments are far from useless, as they do exactly what they're meant to be used for.

Ordon Shield and Mole Mitts.

oh and lets not forget about the Tingle Tuner.

The fishing rod was useful as a fun minigame gosh.

The dominion rod and the magic armor were useless, yes.

The spinner is not defendable. Its sole purpose is for a few places where it's supposed to be specifically used there. It's not even good as transportation, because it's the slowest thing ever, even if you spin it more.

The mole mitts could get you items and rupees, like the shovel in OoX.

The hammer in WW was amusing, at the very least. If you used it on Miniblins, they flew up in the air.

The Skull hammer is also unique because of it's reach; it has the best range of any melee weapon in WW.

Just thought I'd mention that...

Spirit Tracks was an awesome game story/world-wise, but the gameplay for both it and PH sucked. Of course, I hate touch screen control in general. There were perfectly nice buttons that they could have used.

Have you played Oracle of Ages/Seasons? one of the heros dungeons involved moving the magic boomerang through a narrow squiggly over a bottomless pit. I did it Legit, and it took forever (i was later informed i should have used the return function to hit the switch, bypassing said squiggly). The magic boomerang was the biggest hassle to use with buttons, and i happen to strongly disagree with your view on touch controls. I dislike the bosses/puzzles in those games, though, they were too easy.

I kinda feel that the hook-shot in every game other than OoT and MM were kind of useless

In OoT and MM they could latch onto any wooden thing/scalable wall/enemy/hook-shot target making it one of the most useful and fun tools in the game (other than the masks in MM)

In other games they can only latch onto enemies and man-made hook-shot targets which really made it feel like a very limited tool to me

I cant remember that well, but i feel like i used the whip (hookshot equivalent?) in ST a lot. Im pretty sure it got used a lot in Oracle of Ages, as well.

i dont see the point in the flute in sprite tracks it has no real use outside if the songs you play with the sages

It didnt do anything in battle, but i liked the use of the microphone--it was cute and Nintendo showing off, albeit frustrating at times.

I find that the Razor Sword from MM was useless since you could only slice 100 times then it breaks, otherwise it's good for killing enemies easier.

Some other things I find useless are any kind of Wooden Shield from any of the 3D Zelda games and the only part I find useless about the Magic Armor is that it wastes rupees, otherwise you're invincible for a certain amount of time before you're out of rupees.

A bottle full of water in TP. If I remember correctly, it makes pumpkins grow instantly, but that's it.

The Master Key in the original Legend of Zelda! By the time you get it, you've unlocked pretty much all of the doors that need unlocking. And unless you're very meticulous, it's easy to miss even then! I didn't know it existed until my third play through, haha...

I'm with True Gamer! I guess it's just something that...exists in the game. They should have went the extra mile, and made it so it grew bomb flowers like Wind Waker as well.
