As the title says, I got a bamboo tablet and started painting with it. I wanted to see what you guys thought.

And yes I like drawing girls. xD

This one took forever! I think I need to improve on skin tones.

This one took less time, but I didn't clean up the lines as much... Still need to get better at skin.

Anyways These are my first real digital paintings. Tell me what you think.

Oh and a link to my deviantart, if you want to check it out... http://silent1fd.deviantart.com/

Are all of them taken from actual pictures? Or just the redhead.

I sketched the redhead with this pic as a reference(other than her dress)...

Don't use blacks, you slut.

Skin tones are not just a darker version of the base color. It makes it look flat and shit.

Use more purples and reds and blues.

I'm not sure, it could be Felicia Day.

Ok i'll practice using more colors to add more value for skin and to add depth, but why shouldn't I use blacks?

Well yes, I know you're not supposed to use black with real paints, but I thought using it in a digital painting is rather common.

It's an entirely different ball game though when you switch from a subtractive color system (which is what painting is, the primaries being cyan, magenta and yellow) to an additive one (which a computer monitor is, with the primaries being the well known RGB). In an additive system dark hues are only accomplished by removing light instead of adding pigment, so the problems a painter faces with black don't exist quite in the same way.
