The Idea Barn

A big chunk of my day involves standing by a door greeting people as they enter and saying bye as they leave. As such I have a lot of free time to sit and think up ideas for stories.

I thought I'd share a few here.

The Culper Ring:

I've tried to get this idea off the group multiple times but to no avail. It's based on a real spy ring started by George Washington during the American Revolution. The spies were citizens who lived in New York during the British occupation. In the story the Culper Ring wasn't disbanded and now serves as the Presidents personal Espionage service. The Agents are actually Celebrities from various fields (sports stars, actors, reality tv and news media). Celebrities can get into places even diplomats can't.

The Revolution:

In the year 2020, the United States is a dictatorship under the control of President Jessica Klein. As her armies enforce obedience, a group of Freedom fighters fights to return America to the people. They are joined by the mysterious Samuel, who knows more than he's letting on about the Government.

Noneday:

A teen orphan is sent to live with his estranged Great Uncle Felix. While exploring his Uncle's Labyrinthine Mansion the boy discovers a doorway that opens to a magical day hidden between sunday and monday called Noneday. While in Noneday the rest of the world is frozen and all types of mystical creatures run free. But a dark force seeks to harness the power of Noneday to return the most horrible of creatures to the waking world.

The Ultimate weapon:

Sabrina Mortez a young CIA analyst is reassigned to "The Hole" a secret underground base in Oklahoma where the most important Intelligence tool in America is held, a young 20something man named Ed. Ed is actually a clone of famous Psychic Edgar Cayce who actually died in 1990 at 113 (as opposed to 1945 as is reported). The government uses Ed's talents to fight terrorism on a global scale and prevent disaster. A deeper mystery involves his father's final visions which include Sabrina by name.

Lawman:

A morgue snafu sees fatally wounded Police Detective Topper Kane frozen in Cryo-Stasis for 30 years. He wakes in the year 2040 to a very different world. He uses his antiquated police skills to stop criminals in the future.

B.S.O (Bureau of the Strange and Obscure):

When cases involve the strange, the experts at the B.S.O are called in to handle it. Weather it's Aliens, Ghosts or Cryptids the B.S.O have you covered.

MegaCrime:

Five years after a mysterious event gave every one in ten people Super powers, the MegaCrime division of the NYPD handles both super criminals and superheroes in the city that never sleeps.

Guardian of the Multiverse:

A mental patient takes his Doctor on a tour of Parallel Quantum Realities. With each world they travel to, they use their collective knowledge and skill to change the lives of the inhabitants for the better. It's sort of a cross between "Quantum Leap" and "Sliders" with a bit of "Fringe" thrown in.

Faust:

Felix Marlowe is a successful plastic surgeon who is living the good life in Beverley Hills. Everything changes when he is visited by the mysterious Morton Black. Black tells Felix that his parents sold his soul to him when he was an infant for wealth and power. They suffered the consequence of the Devil's bargain by dying soon after in a car wreck. The deal transferred to Felix until the marker on his soul arrived on his 30th Birthday (which is months away). As Felix's life crumbles around him he considers taking his own life until he is saved by Gabe, a homeless wanderer. Felix tells Gabe about his parents and the deal they made and to Felix's amazement Gabe believes him. "No one Felix, not even your parents can sell your soul but you. If this Morton Black really is Lucifer, he was probably counting on you taking your own life. A soul is a powerful thing but it must be given up willingly, don't give it up without a fight!"

Inspired by Gabe's kind words Felix goes to confront Mr. Black to battle for his soul. In a very onesided battle, Felix is nearly killed until Gabe intervenes. "I should've recognised your meddling Gabriel, tell me does our Father know you are consorting with his precious Apes?" "He gave them free will Brother, he never said we couldn't give them advice."

Prevented from openly helping Felix Gabe gives him his Glaive, a silver sword "This'll even the odds a bit!" Empowered by the Glaive Felix trounces Lucifer and destroys the contract. Time reverts to the point just before Mr. Black arrived and Felix's life is intact. He thanks Gabe for his help and hands him his Glaive "Keep it" Gabe replies. "Something tells me Lucifer's not through with you yet".
