Elder Scrolls MMO announced

It's probably old news to the big fans of skyrim here, but I figured I should make a post out of it anyways.

Not entirely sure how to react. It's coming out in 2013, apparently, which is pretty soon I suppose when you consider the length between oblivion and skyrim, and how long it usually takes to debut a respectable MMO. I can't help but think they're going to be cutting corners somewhere.

Do you suppose they'll have classes? It's one thing to have races you start out with in any given elder scrolls game, and yeah those affect your overall stats, but you always start out pretty open ended, don't you? Your only defining trait is how you choose to invest the points you gain when you level up. And what do you suppose the gameplay will be like?

Discuss.

I'm not sure if it could work as an MMO. I just feel like it will try to be great, screw up somewhere, become free to play, and slowly sink into the backs of our minds until it has been forgotten completely.

It's sad, but that's usually how it goes for these types of games.

Yeah I read all the current features of the game. It sounds like that they are trying to please both seasoned MMORPG players and regular Elder Scrollers, but won't be able to please either.

Also, classes wouldn't be anything new since Oblivion had classes. But that was why a lot of people were displeased with Oblivion.

I think it would be cool to have an MMO that wasn't all stat-based combat and was actually real time attacking and strategy, with hitting people not being based on your accuracy, but where you actually hit a person.

Dark souls is sort of like that. You can have some crazy high stats and strong equipment and it wont make a difference if you cant land a hit on the other guy.

After playing Morrowind I cannot stop hating this game's approach to the lore. It baffles me that they would want to water everything down so much.

Where is my glittering city made of crystal in Summerset Isle guys :sadlink:

(Also monkeys? Seriously!? what happened to having an entire bestiary of imaginary creatures like in Morrowind? Skyrim was bad enough with creativity.)
