Zelda movie?

If you've ever played Super Smash Brothers Brawl, it had a fairly intense and engaging story without having to have any dialogue, just using body language, events, and minimal vocals to communicate what was happening, with the exception of the introductions that implement text. I think it'd be cool if they did something like that for a movie, but I know people would complain and say they can't take it seriously or something. Zelda does have text-based dialogue, and though I think it would be nice if the other characters were voiced, Link should remain silent. There is absolutely no way they'd be able to make his character the familiar one we know and have him say things at the same time.

I don't think they'd completely butcher any attempts at voice acting; they did a pretty alright job in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch0sX19PPZA, but I have a deathly fear of what American voice actors would look like on something like this.

Oh also, check out my commentated version of a Zelda fan movie; Hero of Time.

A Zelda movie is a very frightening idea. Movies based on games have a tendency to fall into two categories, notoriously bad and somewhat good. Your notion of an animated film Is intriguing but ultimately pointless. With all the big budget fantasy epics out there (if Nintendo ever considered making a Zelda film) it would without doubt be live action and produced in conjunction with a big name studio. The problem with game based movies Is finding writers and directors familiar with the games. You'd hope for Paul W.S Anderson and get Uwe Boll.

I dont really wanna see any of this happen, but yeah i'd prefer and animated movie over a live-action one.

some good points made here. I kinda wanted to talk more about a movie itself than budgeting and reasons why they shouldn't make a movie.
but I guess some people like to be negative, no problem :)

From what's been made by fans, it seems it'd be rather difficult to make a live action Zelda movie that wasn't intended to be funny (even if they're serious, they end up funny anyways). Animated, however, I'd be interested in. Besides the horrid CD-i stuff, I think a 2D-animated Zelda movie would be pretty ballin' with today's animation capabilities. Like if I could see a Zelda film with the light and color of Princess and the Frog or something, I'd be really excited over it.
Link probably shouldn't talk, but that's always pretty difficult to transfer over to a film with your protagonist, not to mention the structuring of the movie. They would either have to go for an interpretation of a game, or their own story entirely. Which would sound better, actually?

Personally, as opposed to a full-length in-depth plot-drilled film, I'd like a serious short film animated in a colorful 2D style. Maybe half an hour at most or something: I think that would end up really nice. If they want to make a film that's intended to be funny though, by all means. I could watch that live action Legend of Link parody fan film until the day I die, I swear.

There's already a feature length comedic Zelda parody.

:3

But yeah, if any of you have seen the Animal Crossing animated movie, I think they pulled it off pretty well for a sandbox-simulation-social game. I don't think it should have its own canonical plot; I'd rather they just stick to what's already there. But I think Ocarina of Time adaptations are way played out, and the other obvious choice [for the western audience], Twilight Princess, might be boring as a rock.

If they're going to go for something that really puts emotions into context and has Link as more of a protagonist than a vessel for projection, there's not much competition for Wind Waker or Majora's Mask. It just depends on which tone they want to go for; a feel-good time or a psychological nightmare.
