Nah thats exactly the kind of thing that tumblr would do/would come out of tumblr. I saw a post floating around that said it's wrong to go around saying "just see people as people" because saying that apparently disregards/undermines the struggles that people go through when facing discrimination for being a minority, because apparently saying "all people are people" is saying that minorities cant proudly identify with their heritage/orientation/whatever. I feel like that post was completely missing the sentiment most people have when they say "nah man you just gotta judge everyone as individuals."

I think people have critique/wanting to help mixed up with judging.

I hear all the time "judge not, lest you be judged" or some form of it.

People don't seem to get that "judging" someone in the biblical sense is condemning them to hell. If I were to "judge" you guilty of, say, adultery, it would mean I was probably trying to stone you or punish you in some way.

If I'm telling you "hey, don't do this" or "That's wrong" I'm not out to stone you. I'm trying to help you, because I care about you. That's not judging you. If I truly were judging you, or I didn't care about you, I would be actively trying to punish you, or I would just say "puppy off" and go about my merry way. The fact that I took the time to criticize something you were doing means that I think what you were doing was either harming you, me, or someone else. I wasn't judging you so much as just asking you to cut it out for your/my/somebody's sake.

Judging is more like, well, this:

I just found a tumblr where people submit pictures of themselves naked. Oh no, wait, it's a collection of meticulously scrutinized submissions that either have to be stereotypically "empowering for women" or pretentious bullshit. I wouldn't even put it in the realm of "artsy", because the photos suck. Oh yeah, they're all white women, by the way. What? It's really funny to me that there is someone in charge of "quality control" with the submissions. I guess it's SUPPOSED to be a site about opening up, breaking free from your inhibitions, expressing yourself, loving yourself, being proud of who you are and celebrating everyone's unique features., right? That's fine as long as you meet the stringent criteria of the owner. Express yourself, but only in the right way. Only in the way that pleases the personal preferences of the administrator. The biggest irony is that it's so focused on "nontraditional" or "natural" beauty, yet most of the girls are covered in tattoos or are meticulously groomed. There is the token pube shot, yeah. The site is seemingly focused on "natural" beauty of a large amount of people. So you would imagine that there would be some kind of variety, right? The celebration of "natural" things is so well-manicured and so cautiously guarded against anything that strays too far from the creator's "image". And the people who submit are possibly doing something that they think is "brave". What happens to those people who don't get accepted? Are they still "brave"? Are they more brave? The site is just incredibly contradicting.

It is hilarious to me to see these people on their little paths. Are they self-conscious and having a "breakthrough" and loving their body? Are they just narcissistic? Do they think that it's for a cause? Are they at the stage that every girl goes through where they want to be a photographer? I love how stupid these people are. I think that it's a rite of passage for college-aged girls to do this, honestly. Show me a girl with an Instagram and I will show you someone who will get nude for sake of "art". Not the kind that enriches society or culture, but the kind of art that you can constantly reload on your smartphone to see how many likes or notes it has. Nothing wrong with appreciating the human form, but if that's what you say you're dedicated to, then stand by it. Thin, youngish, white women are a fraction of a fraction of the types of human forms out there. It bothers me when people claim to believe in something as "noble" as universal inclusion, but don't know how to stop seeing only themselves and their individual causes and beliefs in everything. Call the site "naked pictures of people who I want to look at and/or approve of". It doesn't make the owner a dick if they were clear about the intent of the site. It's insanely contradictory and hypocritical to claim a universal and non-discriminatory stance, mostly because that stance doesn't and cannot exist. This legendary irony is, to me, the most laughable part of this. (This is also my gripe about feminists, who also claim to have a stance that represents all, when all they can only do is tend to their own greivances.)

I just saw this: A shot of purposefully pigeon-toed girl in "vintage", untied boots, standing in the hay with a "vintage" car in the background. You better believe she has typical hip tattoos on her legs.

You know what I find fascinating about Tumblr? Despite the sense that much of it is made up of feminists and Social justice warriors, its something like...85% porn? You look at a place like Myspace and see how its rotted from all the people leaving it, imagine in 4 or 5 years what the landscape of a place like Tumblr will look like. Some part of the non porn userbase is eventually going to run out of time to post or browse tumblr between work, kids, and all those other delightful trappings of adulthood... I'm sure it would begin to look more and more unattractive to Yahoo. Can you imagine the place being sold to some sleazy Porn moguls? Its just fascinating to see how a community evolves. You go and look at some old sites that have been abandoned and its almost a bit depressing

Actually, the internet itself is like 85% porn, not specifically tumblr.

Thats a misnomer. There was a study that showed that the internet is less than 1% porn. Another 70% is advertising

Are you being sarcastic? I'd figured a study of the internet would find porn to be probably around 15% of it's content?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this was my thought when I read that, too.

I actually.............recently got addicted to tumblr. But I also accidentally started following someone who reblogs roughly equal parts women's rights and funny things. They're not the insane angry rant extremist type, but I'm still sitting there like "I enjoy kitchen jokes don't hate me I see them the same as race jokes jeegus"

mostly I find the sort of interconnection among people with similar likes to be interesting, and then there's the blogs with humor in spades.

also I'm convinced that >50% of things that happen on tumblr are just reblogs. And that's also kainda interesting in it own right.

Porn--4% of popular websites, 13% of web searches. Probably not counting fanart and shit.

Nope. For srs, the amount of porn on the internet is dwarfed by the amount of everything else.
