Beginner, need help

So I am new here & I would love to know what are some of the best things I can do here, how to accumulate rupees, & the best way to make some friends, things like that. Thanks

Hey man, welcome to hyrule.net, or as we like to call it "Hnet." we're a forum that revolves around zelda discussion, though generally we talk about other things a lot too. If you found something interesting in a game you'd like to share with us, or maybe you're stuck in one part of a game and you need help finding a way out, or maybe you have an interesting theory about the game you'd like to discuss, there's a subforum for it and you're always welcome to post there. You accumulate one rupee for every post you make, with a bonus amount of rupees for starting topics or posting in special forums(there are also forums where you dont get rupees for posting, like "Forum Games"). If you want to make friends around here, just stick around a while and be friendly. Eventually someone will like you for doing that. Enjoy your stay!

Try not to take a lot of the stuff people say on here seriously, people like to joke around a whole lot on here, though if someone crosses too many lines with you do not be afraid to speak up or talk to someone about it. Other than that, pretty much what Pheo says.

How do you use the chat, and i read you could rupees in there ?

You don't accumulate ruppees in the chatroom, it's just a different way of communicating with different members of the site. There are some members who are long time members of the website yet almost exclusively post there, like Ganondorf333, or Nabeshin. Feel free to go meet them.

The chatroom is this thing called IRC, or Internet Relay Chat. You don't have to make any accounts or anything, you can type any nickname you want in there and you'll join the channel. Most chat rooms, IRC or otherwise, have slow periods where not many people are talking, but if you stay in there awhile, you're bound to get a conversation going. There are numerous IRC clients, but if you want to go with the immediately convenient option, there's the web-based client here.

 

Skype is a chat that requires you to download its client. You can find it here. You'll need to add someone from the main chat and then request that they add you into it. It's somewhat resource-intensive, so if you have a slow computer, it might be a bit troublesome. It's less technical than IRC though, so it's slightly easier to get into. It also supports voice conversations with multiple people, though voice convos are sporadic and spontaneous.

No, Knuckle's just making a joke. Our flash games and Rupees and stuff just aren't relevant anymore, so I guess it just was neglected and wasn't put into our new forum features, so it's essentially dead, yeah.
