Nintendo DS Games in HD

So I don't know very much about emulating games, but I found a thread on NeoGaf that talks about a fork of the "DeSmuME" DS emulator that allows for DS games to be rendered in high definition. I have no idea whatsoever what a fork is in this context, but I do know there's a lot of people on this forum who have certain DS games they love and have emulated before, and I figured I'd share for their sake. The thread is loaded with great examples of what the games look like before and after the emulator gives them the glory of high res, and so I took a few from that thread and posted them below.

Seems like metroid games are always beautiful one way or another. It's really sad that these games get such beautiful love and care pumped into them only to be victimized by current technological limitations. More examples under the spoiler.

Anyways, I don't have any way of playing these since pretty much no emulators work on macs. But I figured there would be people on this forum who could appreciate this stuff. And I figured maybe there were a few of you who'd like to replay your favorite games with better graphics or something.

This is so sad. Someone painstakingly wrote all those runes into the slab, and looking at the before version, you wouldn't even know anything's written on it to begin with.

By fork, it probably means something like VBA and VBA-M. VBA stopped having people work on it and a new group took it over and started to improve upon it and add things to it. Although, I'm p. sure Desmume is still being worked on, so.

These look amazing though. Looks like something /3/ worked on, although I've only seen a few models from anons on there, but they remind me of these. Until Shaq pointed it out to me a few minutes ago, I thought they just did some sort of super duper high-res sort of algorithm, but then he pointed the last picture and the little runes and man, these must've taken awhile.
