Well after the movie flopped it was generally considered to be dead. If you go back and listen to what people had to say right after it came out I think a lot of it would be negative, but time has lent perspective, and 25 years of mostly shit television, so people are finally looking back on it with fondness. So they released a blu ray with the complete series, and the movie, with 90 minutes of cut footage. It was very popular. Its possible even before the blu ray set came out that there were talks, and that whether showtime would bring it back would be based on how sales were.
