The left has been pretty weak for a long time now, relatively speaking. They're more willing to compromise, which is definitively a good thing. The new right's policy has been more in the way of blindly opposing the opposite side. Their idea of compromise tends to be "do exactly what we want without changing anything". Hopefully it changes.
