It cycles between different Berserk wallpapers every twelve hours. This one is my favorite.

I don't understand how everyone manages to keep their desktops so clean. I mean, maybe I could just put everything except for the recycle bin into one folder and then have two folders on the desktop, but even then, that's still more than Teto up there with just the recycle bin. How do you do it?

The trick is to just stay organized. I used to only have like two icons on my taskbar even.

I also make use of the "search for programs" feature in my start menu a lot. And really a lot of the time it just ends up that you don't need most of the stuff on your desktop, on your desktop. Like you have a bunch of miscellaneous stuff on your desktop when it probably could go in your designated pictures/documents/etc. folders, which is where I keep most of my stuff. I only keep really frequently used programs on my taskbar, or in my start menu, and otherwise I search for them in the start menu and just hit "Enter", because 99/99.1 times the first result is the correct one.

On mine I map all the programs that I use regularly to the taskbar. Any programs I don't actually access (like you have McAfee Security Scanner or whatever there), I just delete the shortcuts to. If I really want to access them I can just open up the start menu and do a search. All my pictures are in folders in the Pictures folder. All documents in the Documents folder. All downloads in the Downloads folder (unless I move them after I've downloaded them). All videos in the Videos folder.

On the taskbar I have a link to my libraries folder, from which I can easily access all my folders like downloads, documents, pictures, etc. All my go-to files are within short clicking distance. On the taskbar I have links to programs pertaining to socialising, media, image manipulation, and documents. Apart from these, I don't regularly access many other programs. Any other useful programs which I don't need to use often I just pin to my start menu.

So everything I need is no more than one or two connections away. The desktop is a big opportunity to individualise your computer. It'd be a waste to clutter it up with folders and useless shortcuts. It's satisfying to express yourself through how you choose to decorate your desktop. Since my laptop is primarily recreational, I'm willing to compromise practicality somewhat to have a little fun.

I really only keep a few things that I use fairly regularly on my desktop, so it's not too bad.
