Are You a Sponge

Sorry the thread title seems odd, I don't know how else to word it. Anyways.

If you're anything like me, then you are extremely prone to picking up habits, mindsets, and even dialects or accents from observing other people. I know that after listening to the Super Best Friends, I tend to talk a lot like them just because I listen to them a lot. I pick up habits from other people as well. For example, I tend to tap my pencil on the table because I've seen many others do it.

So like me, are you a sponge who picks up things from other people? What sorts of things do you tend to pick up on? (This includes sponging fictional characters as well).

I think a lot of people mirror others' personalities in order to get by and feel comfortable with other people. One of my colleagues at work is from Australia, yet she has a Scottish accent from living here so long. My mother only speaks in her own Scottish accent when she's talking to her sisters. It's a coping thing I guess?

Being able to integrate into a culture is a good resilient quality. I'm not very good at it really. It's not necessarily weak to be influenced by others.

Ever since I started watching Game Grumps, I've been saying "___-ass ____", "clod", and the word "dingle" a lot. I also used to type a lot like Dave Strider from Homestuck, since he was(and still pretty much is) my favorite character. I picked up on saying "y'all" and "oh wow" from living in North Carolina, because apparently no where else I've lived has puppying "oh wow" in their dialect. lol
