  1. My Mii's personality shouldn't be so accurate but it is and it's horrifying.

Some of the questions fell under the category of "I don't think the people they're thinking of are the people I'm thinking of", though.

  3. November? I'll actually have my own money to spend on it then, omg.

I'm a horrible person that hadn't beaten a pokemon game since diamond (including restarting several files on several games) before Y, and I'm still gonna get this, I'm sure.

Yes thank you for reinforcing my point. The class quiz just wants to know what you think is cool, but I was PRETTY SURE most of you weren't religious enough to actually fall under the category of paladin or cleric or whatever

My issue with the religious requirements for the cleric/paly is that the sort of care/support/honor they have doesnt really direct you into a non-religious class with similar values, but into bard because they share the traits of being less violence-oriented and a support role, but arent going "MY GOD HAS COMMANDED ME TO SMITE YOU, CONVERT TO MY RELIGION OR DIE" every five seconds. The thing is that a paly would be in the front, drawing attention and taking blows for their friends, and a bard would be in the back, cheering them on, and cleric would be somewhere in the middle, depending on build, skills, etc.

I took that longer quiz and I thought my result was dumb. Human sorcerer. What? I checked the stats and it was like "10 dwarf, 10 halforc, 14 human, practically nothing everything else." Man even if I was like halforc sorceror or something that'd be at least interesting but this was dumb. No I am dwarf warlord screw this.

Also chimetals regardless of whichever result you care about you could just be, like, championing the cause of sayuri or something since she's your owner apparently

Next game (if) I play with her, I'm totally pushing for that sort of intro. It's a fun image and I think I could pull this off.

Also to be fair I roll really far on the tanking class side, so I'm probably not the best judge of whether a quiz is accurate or not.

  5. Taking the longer quiz now. I have the worst time when it asks alcohol questions, because I don't drink to that point? "How much does it take you to get drunk" "I've never been drunk but it's not like I tried to get wasted."

When I was young, I performed better in...

    ...my math and science classes.
    ...my music and art classes.

    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Also, the long quiz is using the questions from the alignment quiz.

Okay, got the long quiz results. Everything except the class is the same (ability scores overall higher), but honestly I think it's the religious influence in Cleric/Paly that tends to throw me off if they use it as a sort of requirement. My personal views/behavior is rather paladin, but you throw in that religion as a prereq and I get eliminated instantly. Blind faith and seeing things in black/white are not things I am capable of.

True Neutral Human Bard (4th Level)

    Ability Scores:
    Strength- 13
    Dexterity- 11
    Constitution- 13
    Intelligence- 18
    Wisdom- 14
    Charisma- 13

    Alignment:
True Neutral- A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment when it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.

    Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

    Class:
Bards- Bards often serve as negotiators, messengers, scouts, and spies. They love to accompany heroes (and villains) to witness heroic (or villainous) deeds firsthand, since a bard who can tell a story from personal experience earns renown among his fellows. A bard casts arcane spells without any advance preparation, much like a sorcerer. Bards also share some specialized skills with rogues, and their knowledge of item lore is nearly unmatched. A high Charisma score allows a bard to cast high-level spells.

This thread really makes me want to show someone what a neutral paly looks like/play D&D. Dammit Pheo.

  6. How the hell are you supposed to be a true neutral paladin. Also your image isn't working.

It's weird, though I think I get why it is. And the image is fixed.

Pheo whined at me on facebook to do these tests so here I am with very predictable results. Also if you're using Chrome like me and are having trouble with the race quiz, it seems to not like Chrome. Just use another browser (Firefox worked for me) and it should be fine.

That's weird since I was using firefox and then had to switch to IE. Probably the adblocker sayu mentioned.

Okay I don't get why chimetals and knuckle are your slaves. Whats the joke here that I'm missing.

I'm more of a dedicated servant but the end result is the same.

  7. Alignment

Based on your answers to the quiz, your character’s most likely alignment is Neutral.

    Neutral

A neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. She doesn’t feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most neutrality is a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil. After all, she would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, she’s not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. The common phrase for neutral is "true neutral." Neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion.

I could swear my answers were significantly different than the last time I took this but same results. NOT SURPRISED.

    "

I am the righteous shield of Moradin and a sword in his mighty hand! I fear no evil!"

Paladins are indomitable warriors who've pledged their prowess to something greater than themselves. Paladins smite enemies with divine authority, bolster the courage of nearby companions, and radiate as if a beacon of inextinguishable hope. Paladins are transfigured on the field of battle, exemplars of divine ethos in action.

To you is given the responsibility to unflinchingly stand before an enemy's charge, smiting them with your sword while protecting your allies with your sacrifice. Where others waver and wonder, your motivation is pure and simple, and your devotion is your strength. Where others scheme and steal, you take the high road, refusing to allow the illusions of temptation to dissuade you from your obligations.

Take up your blessed sword and sanctified shield, brave warrior, and charge forward to hallowed glory!

IF YOU'RE SURPRISED AT THIS POINT I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU

    Race

    Human

Most humans are the descendants of pioneers, conquerors, traders,

travelers, refugees, and other people on the move. As a result,

human lands are home to a mix of people—physically, culturally,

religiously, and politically different. Hardy or fine, light-skinned or

dark, showy or austere, primitive or civilized, devout or impious,

    humans run the gamut.

I bet you were thinking elf. But no this is a much more practical race if I'm being honest.

If you thought I was gonna post anything else after all this you're kidding yourself.

Also, I had issues with the race thing too, I just had to use a different browser.

  8. You should push for the extra credit. You have nothing to lose. And if you have reasonable evidence that the course calendar was wrong, you should explain that to him.

Being deceived by false information is extenuating circumstances. If he had warned you a couple of times that the calendar was wrong then maybe he can justify the zero. But if he didn't give you a fair heads up, and he gives you a zero with the knowledge of this, then hes just being a cunt.

The calendar wasn't wrong, I just had been mis-reading it for like a week and a half. Hell, I went and checked my assignment notebook, where I mark down due dates and the like, and I had it written down correctly on a Monday, too. I had just been misreading that, too. The most I could think of for this reason was from when I worked fast food, and the calendar's week started on a Monday there.

  9. I find it interesting, as anarchy seems preferred until a nasty puzzle shows up, and then BAM, democracy. Keeping people fighting over the input method also clears up a lot of potential inputs and speeds things up that way, as well.

  10. I literally dropped in to throw down some helpful button presses just to be able to say I was a part of it. Wound up watching/helping them go up a couple floors of Lavender Tower before someone managed to use dig to get out. It's sorta funny how the system was leaning hard anarchy for a floor, then suddenly started swinging hard to the democracy system.

  11. Went to the prof today and while I'm not the only one that missed the test, none of us get to make it up. Course policy.

He sounded like his hands were tied, unfortunately. Said he had been having to tell people they were going to have a hard time all week from this :/

Admittedly, I'm like 80-90% sure you could blunt-force pull off getting something if it had happened to you, but I'm basically lacking that magic. The most I know is from my mom, and calling up the corporate ladder to get refunds. Which I will probably be doing today, as I booked my bus ticket at a really stupid time and need that fixed without paying for what is essentially another bus ticket.

I've basically accepted my fate at this point, as doing well will land me squarely in the C range, and having had to retake a class, my parents have learned to accept Cs, so that won't be that awful. It just sucks when you know you'll be working hard to get one grade back on homework and tests and then a completely different grade at the end of the semester.

  12. The issue is that it's a huge lecture class, so everything is basically standardized and automated at this point.

As an update, it seems that if I bust my ass on this and become a master of goddamned light I will get....a C. Huzzah. Luckily, my homework this time has been going smoothly, otherwise I would be in a much nastier mental state.

  13. Not many classes here offer extra credit, and the ones that do are the ones you rarely need it for.

I once overslept to the point of waking up in the middle of a class period/exam and actually panic-texted the teacher. In that instance, though, I got to take the exam.

  14. So last night, I went to take my physics exam....only to discover I had missed it by a full 24 hours, despite checking the website's calendar at least five times. Went to the prof today and while I'm not the only one that missed the test, none of us get to make it up. Course policy. Seriously, why have an email for missed tests when we can't do anything anyway? So now I have to haul ass in this class to compensate for the 20% that I bloody missed. And I don't even get points from the curve, as sad as a score that would be.

And then my school has the nerve to send out an email telling us that unless we fill out some special form, we will have to buy their insurance. And rather than link to the form, they link to the general page. $5 says they didn't send a copy to anyone's parents, who would have the actual info needed for this crap. Yeah, totally not trying to rob us all blind, thanks. Not like they took my confidence in my academics or anything. Oh, wait.

I cannot wait to get out of this place, even though I still don't have a clue what I'll be doing for a living or where or

I am just so done with this crap.

  15. -18C is "this is bullshit why did I go to this school they never told me the weather was this nutty".

Also when they send out useless warnings about frostbite that boil down to "if your fingers look like this, get out of the cold and don't stick anything in hot water"

  16. Not if they destroy the defeated group's culture, people, language, and libraries. And even if the truth becomes known--how many know that truth? That's more or less the case/problem with American history, the point of this thread--we're all older and finding out some of these events from the other group's perspective, but we're basically just stumbling across them. And how many people aren't stumbling across them? How many people know that Columbus thought he was in fricken India every time he came to America--multiple trips, and that he had found a new continent never occurred to him.

My big gripes with the US education system:

    - Not teaching metric from an early age

    - Teaching pi instead of tau

    - Spelling is arbitrary and stupid in the English language, and so are many of its mechanics

-metric--I agree on this one, America is being dumb about this and we need to kill the English system. I switched my phone temperature for this, just so I can better think in Celcius--and you know what? It worked. You learn pretty darn quick what -2C means compared to -18C and how many layers you need to wear to avoid frostbite.

-killing pi would be nastier than killing the English system. I have honestly never heard of Tau before this, except when used as a variable, specifically for time in convolution. I've dealt with it in other forms, but never this pi-alternative. I will also admit that I don't have much preference for any infinite number that makes my nice fractions into disgusting decimals--logical enough argument, witty video, but it's harder to argue "this is so much simpler" when you're talking about thousands of dollars per school per textbook, to remove a factor of 2. Metric, at least, is "its all tens, everything is tens, math is nicer".

--All languages have their jacked up inconsistencies. Japanese is logical as all get-out, but you've still got weird suffix changes on, what, one, three, six, eight, and ten for h-sounding counter words? first second third fourth much? And then the convolution that is the writing system--borrowing Chinese characters, mutating them for kana, and preserving them at the same time for use as Chinese characters. Then borrowed words from other languages, politeness levels--and, yeah, not much of an advantage. Latin-based languages, from my understanding, are similar to English in that regard, though English admittedly has the problem of picking up a lot more words from a lot more countries than it probably should have. But killing English would be harder than even killing pi, unless some other nation/culture takes over English-speaking countries and forcefully destroys our culture and language.

I know there have been movements to change to a phonetic alphabet, but they weren't wide-spread enough, and again we are talking about tons of money for textbook and book changes, older generations wouldn't be able to operate on it, signs and labels would be incredibly confused--no matter how good the idea, the implementation is too nasty for it to take off without a huge backing.
