I actually felt like the time pausing mechanic was fairly unique, enough so that I wouldn't group it with other similar mechanics. Typically a time stop/bullet time mechanic is used to get a free kill, or even a lot of free kills, has a time limit on your decision, and frankly, doesn't have a lot of strategy involved, because it's supposed to be a shortcut, and sometimes it's to test your reflexes and target acquisition. Transistor's implementation felt like a true twist on turn-based RPG combat in an action RPG implementation, which they probably realized themselves, having named the function Turn(). It's a complex mix of simple components. You have resources, attacks, timing, and most importantly, spacing. And it is still solidly turn-based. I really like what they did with it, especially in that you can undo actions, but I feel like it's so specific to the game that other games might not have much room to try and implement something similar because people would always compare it to Transistor. But I wouldn't mind a game that has that mechanic in the setting where you're fighting against someone else with a Turn() ability, though I can see why they didn't have more of those. Those fights were a little frustrating.
 
I've yet to play Bastion though now I'm certainly interested in doing so. My confidence in this team's ability is quite high now.

Transistor blew me away. A lot of mixed emotions going on, all of which are good, even if some are bad. It's a beautiful game.

Top 32 for me. Some I love the design, some I think they're cool as heck, some were on my team and showed me the light, some are cute. One is everything: Lilligant.
 
Also, Cascade, the Pokemon thing you linked to so we could make these stressed me out to heck, man. I thought once I got it down to 20/25, it would just put them all on the right, but then I had to actually start choosing between my favorites and it was just awful.
 
Alsoalso, it didn't even give me an OPTION between Skarmory and another Pokemon. It was just Skarmory...

highlights:
- We went to fight the Nothic. Necro suplexed it behind him to try and shove him onto a bridge that spanned a 20 foot deep crevasse after rolling a 20 to deflect the Nothic's rotting gaze, but rolled two ones in a row, causing him himself to flip over the Nothic, punch a hole in the bridge, fall through, and just barely hang onto the boards of the bridge above. I was poised to take fire on the Nothic when it was on the bridge, trying to knock it into the chasm below, but then I too rolled a 1, and I almost hit Necro, but he dodged it. Later, the bridge broke with the Nothic on it due to Rebb and Sayuri's combined efforts. Sayuri set the bridge on fire, Rebb scuffled with the Nothic enough to knock out the rest of the bridge support. Necro fell and the Nothic fell on top of him, causing 2d6 damage, but then I reminded T1g that the Nothic's back spines would also hurt, which caused an additional 1d6 damage. I tried to shoot the Nothic again, despite wanting to do the more guaranteed strategy of spiderwalking over to it and doing shenanigans that didn't require a roll. I rolled a one. Necro and I both rolled two ones in a row. This time I really did accidentally hit Necro, knocking him back and doing damage to him. I reminded T1g that being launched into a wall would probably hurt, and T1g applied 2 damage to Necro. Errbody was pissed that I kept reminding the DM about auxiliary damage, heh 'w` Necro thought I was trying to kill him.
 
Then muthafuckin' Droop and his badass dread-bringin' crossbow skills put the godd*ng ice on that Nothic and ended its LIFE. I encouraged him before he took the shot, which did away with his natural disadvantage roll for that turn. Das how Droop got to level 1, aw shit!

- After that Rebb finally took up Fergus' offer for a fisticuffs duel. While they were fighting I cast Thaumaturgy to increase the volume of my voice and gather a crowd. Then this p. much happened.
 

 
Rebb and Fergus knocked each other out at the same time. Since it ended in a tie I cleaned house and we ended up with 100gp of the townsfolks' money. I split it three ways between Sayuri, Droop, and I, and put one gold piece in Fergus and Rebb's pockets. They probably wouldn't have approved of the gambling, since they've got lawful alignments. Good thing they were unconscious!

There's always something endearing about a cramped/trashed space, as long as it's your own. It's romantic, somehow.

So idk it's getting warmer out and that's awesome, and I'm not sure if any of you can relate to my fetish for this kind of atmosphere, but I'm sitting in a room with the window wide open and have jury-rigged a fan to blow outside air into my room, with two power strips daisy chained to my computer desk. My headphones are currently lent out so I had to improvise by hooking up my guitar amp as a speaker, and there is noticeable loss in audio quality as well as some distortion. I'm listening to the Street Fighter 3rd Strike OST (courtesy of T1g) which is definitely inspired by the delinquent rave music of the 1990s. And I'm sitting here just doing my thing in the dead of night, in a trashed, cramped room, wires scattered all over the floor and my desk, making some progress on my own.
 

 
I want to go grittier. I want to live in a shitty apartment in a dystopian city setting. But this is still pretty fun for me.

And I fall deeper down the bottomless hole that is fan-art. Here's an ink and watercolor picture of Bruno Buccellati from part 5 of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. I loved his design the moment I saw it in the new All-Star Battle game last year, and now that I've ready a bunch of part 5, Sticky Fingers is definitely one of my favorite stands. I wanted to draw him for a while now, but only got around to it late last night on the whimiest of whims. Worked on this for a little over 2 hours, from about 10:30 to 12:30, and I'd say it turned out way better than it had any right to. If I have a major problem with it, it's that it's not my finest line work and I didn't take the time to get the anatomy as good as I could have, but I was on a roll at the time and couldn't stop long enough to think about such things. The pose of the hands is a bit dainty for such a tough dude, but I've seen A LOT of dainty poses in my art history class this semester, and I suspect that leaked a bit into this. Although, I do think the zipper effect on the page is pretty easy to read, and that counts as a big success in my book. I would have liked to do a more dynamic pose (and do Araki proud) but I'll settle for what I got for now.

 
Again, done with a 12-pack of Pentalic watercolor pencils, and also some Yasutomo ink, sharpie, and a micron pen.

Except I also hate the look of the menus; there's no consistency, just a bunch of random shapes in random sizes. It looks like someone just threw a bunch of cutouts into a box and then called it a day.

I beat Zero Escape 2: Virtue's Last Reward the other day and now I'm really hyped for Zero Escape 3's potential release, if that teaser site that popped up last month is truly related to ZE3. I'm loving this series.
 
I've started DanganRonpa, completed chapter 1 yesterday, I got something about the game spoiled for me a couple of years ago but I expect there's still a lot of crazy stuff that I have no idea about, seems like it will be a crazy ride.

I'm sure it's because guns are seen as much less honorable weapons. Like only a bad person would use them, especially against someone who only has something like swords.
