1. Becuase he said it and I believed him

2. The Faron Woods Gate eas somewhat harder and I didn't want to do the extra Work.

It will not work because since you never met Midna, you don't have the senses and she doesn't appear at the top arrow, so you can't jump greater distances by z targeting her.
