Character name change in another region copy of Spirit Tracks!?

I was looking at the Europe Dutch Spirit Tracks Manual, and I looked at the USA one, which I got in PDF from Nintendo.
And I seemed to be awake enough this morning to notice to follow thing:

Byrne, is called [b]Staven[/b] in the Europe Spirit Tracks Version.

Why is that in the first place anyways?

That's odd and a little strange. They usually do that when a word in English resembles a word or phrase that could be seen as offensive in a foreign language. But Byrne other than being the fourth most common Irish Surname don't mean anything. Staven's a Municipality in Germany.

Ireland is in Europe, so naming someone "Byrne" in a videogame distributed in a country where that surname is very common could make people think the name of the character is a reference to actual living people. Probably they have chosen "Staven" because it's kinda uncommon as a name in Europe.

Well, my neighbour is called Staven, and he is 100% European, Dutch.

I dont know why he has a different name here in Europe but I pefer Staven as it sounds cooler.
