when you can, use .wav or .flac files over mp3s and m4as.

im sure your looking for the most budget way possible, but a good way to get into mixing is to go out and buy some turntables. you can get a decent, cheap set for a couple of hundred.

Or... You can be lazy like me and instead of downloading converters, just set audacity to record the 'stereo mix' on your computer. Then simply play it like you normally would, and there it is!

I don't understand a lot of the jargon you people are speaking, so if I ever actually get to make those mixes I've been wanting to make I will make a youtube "video" for them, then post it here for you guys.
