Wii to launch in South Korea

Wii has been confirmed to launch in South Korea, following the recent release of the Nintendo DS in the region. When, exactly, has yet to be confirmed.

Nintendo Korea recently submitted two of Wii's best selling titles, [i]Wii Sports[/i] and [i]Wii Play[/i], to the Korean Game Rating Board for official rating. Nintendo Korea declined to make a statement on the Korean Wii launch date, but it is speculated to be on or around May 5, Children's Day, a major Korean holiday.

Nintendo Korea's Kim Sang-yean said, "We will make an official announcement once we are all ready."

Obviously, Nintendo's major problem concerning the release of Wii in Korea is growing piracy. Korean retailers are already reportedly selling imported Wii consoles from Japan, North America and Europe with special software built in that unlocks the hardware and software.

Nintendo reportedly lost $975 billion in 2007 on piracy alone.

but surely once it starts selling in other countries, Nintendo will get more money lessening the struggle..? right? or am i wrong?
