Just before Microsoft's E3 press conference this morning, Nintendo announced an add-on accessory for the Wii remote.

The Wii MotionPlus, is designed to enhance the Wii remote's accuracy in detecting 3D motions. The announcement came hours before Microsoft was set to take the stage at the Kodak Theatre for their annual E3 press conference, where many speculated that the company would announce the Xbox 360's answer to the Wii's unique control scheme.

In a press release, Nintendo said the Wii MotionPlus "attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player's arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion...Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play."

Nintendo will demonstrate the Wii MotionPlus at their press conference tomorrow, starting at 9 AM Pacific time.

I'm just wondering what they're going to use this with that they couldn't before...?

plus, this also cancels out the possibility of using the nunchuk at the same time :(

I dunno, but it seems like it is a small Hatch like thingy on the back of the amplifier. Maybe you can stick in the nunchuck there

It looks to me like there's a cover at the bottom for passing the nunchuck connection through but I can't be positive.

yeah, you're right and the jetskiing game in resort uses a nunchuk, so it probabbly does.

In New news, Nintendo are considering integrating this technology into the wiimote itself, so you don't need the peripheral.
