You bet your ASS They were a rock band! Their initial musical style was rooted in 1950s rock and roll and homegrown skiffle, they also explored genres ranging from Tin Pan Alley to psychedelic rock!

pop is hardly a genre. it is anything that is popular so that it can still be r&b / rock / techno

if i wrote the list i probably would have had about 20 bands in the top 10.

there are so many good rock bands (even only looking at the old school ones)

Elvis doesn't deserve to be on there, let alone in second place. Jimi rocked the most, but Jimmy Page played with @#$%#$* violin bow. The Who Rocked out, and Mick Jagger is way too overated. Pink Floyd over Queen? No.

between them, Elvis & The beatles completley redefined music - particularly for the rock and pop genres.

both spots in #1 and #2 are well deserved

Page / Hendrix / Richards are all very talented guitarists, as are their respective bands, but are nothing, really, when compared to the beatles or elvis.
