With today being the Japanese launch of the new Nintendo DSi, Nintendo confirmed that the console will reach overseas markets by summer 2009.

Despite comments by Nintendo Europe and Nintendo of America saying that DSi will reach their respective markets by next spring and "late 2009", Satoru Iwata, Nintendo's global president, confirmed a launch in both regions by the end of next summer.

"Specific plans will be unveiled by our local subsidiaries, but an autumn or year-end launch would probably be too late," Iwata told Reuters.

DSi launched in Japan November 1 to lines as long as 300 people, quickly selling out the 200,000 units shipped to retail while another 100,000 are expected to hit shelves by next week.

Man, I hope they use the reservation thing again.
On the bright side, I have enough time to gather funds.
