Nintendo have released another software update for the wii, which contains many changes and upgrades.
Wii firmware 3.4 was released today!

Read on for details and a WARNING if you use homebrew or ever intend to!

------

These things have come with it:
As of November 17, 2008, Nintendo is sending notices to the Wii Message Board announcing the availability of Wii Menu 3.4. The announcement lists these changes:

* USB keyboard support in Mii Channel
* Enhanced parental controls
* Twilight Hack version 0.1beta1 cannot be copied to the console.

Two other changes have been noted: Nintendo Jap | Eng (trans)

* Improved SD card read/write speed
* Improved disc reading

Update appears to include IOS50 (used by menu) and IOS254 (a copy of IOS9, to block PatchMii).
Of course this sounds great. :)
(However I currently don't know how they've improved disc reading really... I think they just blocked some things like DVDX)
Something else really important is the Privacy Policy Update. (Which changed a little important thing!)
Wii Network Service Privacy Policy Update

Nintendo has updated the Wii Network Service Privacy Policy along side the update. The most notable change details how your Wii may download updates without your permission or even without notifying you first.

Old Policy

"To ensure that your Wii Console is operating properly and efficiently, we may download updates, patches, upgrades and similar software to your Wii Console. In addition, we may disable unauthorized or illegal software that has been placed on your Wii Console without notifying you where necessary, in order to comply with applicable laws, assist law enforcement, protect us and our customers, and prevent the use and distribution of software obtained through improper channels."

New Policy

"We may without notifying you, download updates, patches, upgrades and similar software to your Wii Console and may disable unauthorized or illegal software placed on your Wii Console to ensure that your Wii Console is operating properly and efficiently, comply with applicable laws, assist law enforcement, protect us and our customers, or prevent the use and distribution of software obtained through improper channels." (editor's emphasis)
Notes for Homebrew users:
Nintendo once again have blocked the Installing of Homebrew Channel.
We should wait for a new way to install it on this new firmware...
It also blocks and deletes the TP Hack we should wait here either...
It blocks Nand dumper I guess aging since: it patches IOS9 again (so I guess others too) with uses PatchMii
So for short: Do not update! and please, wait for a workaround :) (The next day or so there was one for 3.3v3 so...)

Also: I don't know if the New Policy should already work on 3.3v3 or any older versions...
I guess not but... I should disconnect my Wii from WiiConnect24 for a while...

Good news for Homebrew users:
Pirating stuff like VC or WW Wad installing (or custom channels too)
Will not only be blocked from installing... now either will be removed from your wii system! :)
That means now Waninkoko or anyone else should have to work on it himself again to fix it :) no help from Twiizers
Backup loader may also been blocked since Disc read Improvement ;)
So... Nintendo have more money and less blocking Homebrew :P

fixed for grammar,

Remember that this is still news to non homebrewers, you should just leave the basics on the front page and then add homebrew related stuff after the jump

I will update if I got more info about this software update! (or just check Wiibrew.org)

Notice: At this time, WiiBrew recommends that you do not update your Wii through Nintendo, as it disables some homebrew (DVDx, PatchMii, Twilight Hack). Recent reports suggest System Menu 3.4 removes all custom channels.
There is no way to install a patched version of System Menu 3.4 currently.

Dustin did something like that too in my previous firmware post 3.3v3...
I already was like cool I can just place Homebrew on a Zeldafan site :P but yes... that is why I thought okay I will do it this time :)

And thanks for grammar fix! :)

Well this is annoying.

I think I might just delete my Homebrew channel.
I can't be bothered fiddling around with this stuff any more than I have to.

Yeah... (And NT_admin and... Arcticfire? And someone here who every knows but I better not name his name here since some things )

Dude world wide homebrew goes,
Homebrew will always stay alive ;)
And... how could a wii owner not hear of any homebrew out for it?
I mean homebrew news goes on every site (nearly :P ) : like DVDX or TP hack or HBX or such more (Or soon BootMii :D )
