Question Regarding OOT

Okay. I'm trying to get Biggoron's Sword. I know how and all, but I can't get across the chasm in Gerudo Valley so I can give the dude the Saw. How do I get over? IGN hasn't been any help so far, and I don't feel like googling. I think I need to get the cooler hookshot and shoot the sign with the eye, but that would take a while to get, and my friend claims he got the Sword before the Forest Temple and used it to pwn Phantom Ganon. Is there another way to get across?

You need Epona.

Get Epona and then go into gerudo valley with her.

Go up to the chasm while riding on her back(She must be running)

But you'll need epona for the timed stuff anyway, so just go get her
