  1. The air that surrounds me is calm, silent, just the way it should be. I am alone, enjoying the utter serenity allowed to me by my palace of balance. It's the sole place I can find utter peace, peace with the land, peace with the people, and most importantly: peace with myself. The perfect, unbreakable connection between by mind, body and soul.

But the serenity is broken as an aura arrives. It moves like an ocean wave - fast, confident, careless. Colours swirl as the wave breaks against the walls of my mind, beautiful purple, passionate gold, confident pink... streaks of black seeping through from the underlayers.

    Melaina.

I pull myself from the depths of my palace of balance, feeling like I'm dragging myself up from the deepest corner of the ocean. Sounds, sensations, warmth... they all slowly return to me as the water thins from the corners of my mind. And then all at once, I surface, inhaling deeply.

I blink twice, bringing myself back to reality. And sure enough, Melaina is sprawled out in a corner of the room, playing her harp.

"Ahh finally, you're back!" she says, smiling crookedly.

"How many times have I told you not to disturb me when I'm meditating?" I ask.

"Yeah yeah I know..." she sighs. "Palace of balance or whatever... point is, what's this I hear about Hylians?"

I unfold my legs from where I sat in the lotus flower position, putting them straight ahead in front of me. I stretch forward, pressing my chest against my thighs, forehead to my knees as I speak. "I found a Hylian settlement earlier, I believe the Hero and the Mortal Goddess are there."

"So?" she asks, finally stopping playing.

"The purpose of the Sheikah tribe is to protect the Triforce and the descendants of the Goddess and the First Hero. If they're here, than that means our true purpose can begin."

Setting: This loosely follows on from Adventure in Skyloft, though will mainly be set among the Sheikah tribe rather than focusing on the Knight Academy students. New OC's will be used, so feel free to join even if you weren't in AIS! This is set just after Link, Zelda, and the other students have moved down from Skyloft to settle on the Surface which they now believe to be at peace. Yet, unknown to them, there's evil lurking in the shadows...

    Name: Fintan

    Gender: Male

    Age: 17

    Race: Sheikah

Physical Appearance: Sandy hair, amber eyes, tanned skin. He's tall, fairly muscular but not excessively so with the Sheikah eye tattooed on the inside of his wrist. He wears simple leather armour to allow for movement, and keeps his long hair pulled back in a short ponytail at all times.

Short Personality Description: He was raised by the Sheikah elders from birth as his parents were lost in a battle. He's not the strongest, but is agile and flexible enough to be a powerful fighter. He takes his meditation extremely seriously, maintaining the belief that one should have a healthy connection between mind, body and soul in order to understand one's surroundings and anticipate approaching danger. However, he has little focus for anything but his orders and his mission, which can cause irritation to those around him.

"I come bearing news..." I announce as I enter the Temple of Spirit. Many members of the tribe are gathered around. The tribal elders are just finishing a ritual prayer to Hylia as I approach the group. The juniors are sat cross legged on the floor, watching in silence, observing. And as for the warriors and the observers, they turn from their tasks, offering me silent nods as greeting.

Sheik, tribe leader, steps forward from where he was previously sharpening spears. His blood red eyes turn to me, offering me his full attention.

"Fintan, what news do you bring?" he asks.

"I was patrolling the western Faron region..." since the Statue of the Goddess returned to the Surface and destroyed Demise, I'd been instructed to keep the area under close observation. "It appears to me that a small settlement has been erected just east of the the Sealed Temple."

Sheik carefully lays his spear and blade down on the table, before approaching me. "Of what significance is this?" he asks.

"It's not an ordinary settlement," I say. "The settlers... they're Hylians. They've brought the great birds of the Sky. And, if I'm not mistaken, I believe that the Mortal Goddess and the Chosen Hero are among them."

  4. (( *whispers* it's Gaepora not Gaebora... ))

I narrow my eyes. "You want us to prove ourselves to you? Sir, we defeated the evil presence threatening the surface? Surely that's enough!"

He smiles, looking rather proud. "Come with me, you'll see what I mean."

He looks upwards, letting out a loud whistle. Suddenly, a flock of multiple loftwings come fluttering down to the surface in a flurry of brightly coloured feathers. Mine lands just a few feet away, stepping closer and softly nudging me with her beak.

"How did they come through the cloud barrier?" Link asks, looking at the headmaster in confusion.

"I'd assume," Gaepora replies "That now the evil presence has vanished from the Surface, the birds no longer fear coming through the cloud barrier."

I grin, clambering aboard my bird. It feels good to rest my hands on her strong figure once again, feeling her warmth radiate through her feathers.

"Could I possibly get a lift from anyone?" Zurin asks, looking around him.

I grin, offering a hand. "Sure." I pull him up onto my bird, and he sits behind me, smiling.

"I don't think I'll ever get used to this," he mumbles.

And with that, we all take off, pulling back upwards towards the Sky.

  5. He makes his way down the stairs, a slight tear in his eye. "Ok..." he says, looking around at us all. "Are we ready to go?"

"Yeah," I say, smiling. "It's time to bring Zelda back home."

"Impa?" Zelda asks, turning to her. "Are you coming?"

    Softly, she shakes her head.

"What? Impa, why? Come with us!" Zelda cries.

She offers Zelda a kind smile. "Zelda, Your Grace, you possess the memories of the goddess. You must understand why that is not possible. I am being of this age. My place is here."

Zelda steps forward, crestfallen. "I... I know that, but..."

Impa closes her eyes softly, turning to look at the Gate of Time. "You must return to your own time. I will take care of the gate once you have passed through."

Zelda rushes forward to Impa. "I... can't do that. You and I have been through so much together. I don't want to leave you alone. Please, Impa," she says desperately. "Come back with us."

Impa places a hand on her shoulder. "Zelda, at the command of the goddess, I passed through the Gate of Time. I did so to protect you and aid the fight to prevent the worlds destruction. The last remnants of Demise are decaying slowly within the sword. Someone must stay behind to watch over this blade. His spirit must not reawaken. He must never be allowed to threaten the world again. This is the nature of the task given to my tribe."

    I frown. Her tribe?

She continues. "As a member of the Sheikah, the goddess' chosen guardians, I gladly welcome this duty. Zelda, I shall watch over the Triforce. It's power is too great to leave in the grasp of man. Dependance on his might is an invitation to disaster. When it has served it's purpose, it must be secreted away to lay dormant once again... the knowledge of it's existence hidden away from mortal memory. These are the words the goddess spoke to me long ago. I remember them well. As you you, I'm sure."

Zelda reaches down, taking off one of her beautiful lilac bracelets and handing it to Zelda.

Impa smiles. "Do not despair, Zelda. You and I will surely meet again someday."

And with that, Impa turns, opening the Gate of Time.

  6. "But there's still one thing left to do..." I say, feeling the lull settle over the air.

"What are you talking about?" Link asks.

"Zurin..." I remind him, gesturing over to where Zurin lies on the blankets behind us, still motionless. I feel a little guilty for forgetting about him for a moment there, but I was too happy wrapped up in that moment...

So I fill Link in on everything that the old lady told me, and by the end, he's grinning. "So we can make this ok?" he asks. I nod, and he turns, making his way over to the Master Sword, still lying where he discarded it.

He hands it to Zelda, who looks a little doubtful about holding such a large and powerful sword in her grip, but she persists regardless.

"Ok..." she says quietly. "So Pipit, Karane, Emzy... if you would..." she holds the blade up in the air in front of them, and they all rest their hands on the blade of sword.

Slowly, but surely, we all watch in stunned silence as the golden glittering energy transfers from their fingertips into the blade of the sword, which is now imbued with this shimmering golden light.

She confidently strides over to Zurin, sword extended out in front of her. She closes her eyes, uttering some kind of prayer to the goddess as she presses the tip on the sword into the palm of his hand. We all watch in silence as the golden energy transfers, holding our breaths.

  7. "Zelda..." I whisper, taking one of her dainty little hands. She blinks a few times, taking a moment to allow her eyes to adjust to the light.

"What happened?" she whispers, taking a deep breath in once again.

"Link must have defeated Demise..." Bryarly says with a smile. "It's all over now..."

Zelda grins happily as she grips my hand a little tighter and I help her sit up. A small blush seeps over her cheeks at the mention of Link's name, and I can't help but smile. Despite everything they've been through, everything they've been told that they are or that they should be or that they could be... they still act like love struck teenagers around one another. It's adorable.

Bryarly and I help her to clamber to her feet. She's still a little unsteady, but she's gradudally coming back into herself. She stoops down, wiping the dust off her flawlessly white dress.

"You really do look like a goddess in that..." Karane says. "I guess it's appropriate."

"Please don't," Zelda says softly, closing her eyes. "I will happily fulfill my duty here, to watch over the Triforce and to care for the surface and it's creatures, but I am not a goddess. I was not born as a goddess, I'm still the same girl who grew up in Skyloft. I still remember plaiting your hair..." she says to me, before turning to Bryarly and Emzy. "And playing dress up with you two... I'm still Zelda, nothing's changed in that respect."

We all grin, looking around at each other. "Come here!" Pipit says eventually, wrapping Zelda up in a tight friendly hug. He pulls Karane and Bryarly in, then invites Emzy and I to join. Soon, we're all hugging and laughing, feeling like little kids again.

And that's when the doors of the back room are thrown open. We all break apart, turning to see Link stood in the doorway. He holds the Master Sword and his sheild in his hands. There are cuts and bruises all over his face, and probably under his tunic, which is ripped at the shoulder and fraying in a number of places. His hair is messy, his hat lopsided, but he's beaming like a kid in a candy store as he lays his eyes on Zelda, alive and happy again.

Zelda pushes through the crowd, standing just ahead of us. Link's grin spreads as he watches her, and they both stand in silence, almost like they're sharing a telepathic moment that none of us could know about. Suddenly, Link's sword and shield clatter to the ground as he runs forward, enveloping Zelda in his arms. She's openly weeping, but I know that they're tears of joy as she tucks her head beneath his jaw, resting it on his chest. His eyes are pressed closed as he rests his chin on the top of her head, squeezing her tighter.

"I've missed you so much..." he whispers.

  8. (( ANYONE ELSE SHIPPING GROOSE AND BRYARLY RIGHT NOW OR IS THAT JUST ME?! And I'll apply the Doctor Who ruling here... Don't know if either of you are whovians but when Rose encountered herself as a baby, everything was fine as long as they didn't touch! ;) ))

As we emerge back through the gate of time to the past, Bryarly and Groose are just making their way out of the back room of the temple and Pipit, Karane and Emzy make their way in through the side doors, carrying an unconscious Zurin.

    "What happened?" Bryarly asks.

"He gave up..." Pipit says quietly, he's staring intently at the floor like it's the most interesting thing in the world, but I can tell by the tone of his voice that he's been crying.

"What do you mean gave up?" I ask.

"We were battling him," Emzy says, sniffing. "He told us that the battle wouldn't end with our victory if he still had his fire abilities... they're attached to his soul, so in order to remove that possibility... he... uhh..."

"He sacrificed his soul..." I whisper.

She nods. The words sting like a knife to the gut.

"Take him into the back room," Bryarly says quietly. "Zelda's in there too."

I watch them go, following the group into the small room. Groose is snoozing, sitting up against the wall at Zelda's feet. The trio lay Zurin's body down on the blankets next to Zelda, before making their way back out into the main room. I sit, watching the two almost lifeless figures in silence. Both are deathly pale, still as corpses, and silent as the night. But I can feel my mind whirring away again.

"The two of them are in exactly the same position," I mutter. "Bodies... but not soul..."

"I see why you're fearful, Callia," the old woman says, making her way into the room. "But aren't you curious as to why the Spirit Maiden has not yet left this world?"

I nod. "That's what I was just thinking. If Demise has her soul, then surely she should be dead..." The words taste sour, but they seem logical to me.

The old woman shakes her head slowly. "It takes time to fully absorb a soul. Souls do not properly attach themselves to bodies for a long while... it takes three months in natural Hylian birthing processes... the time significantly drops as the person matures. But it can still take as long as a day in these circumstances."

I frown, turning to look at her. "Are you saying what I think you're saying?"

She chuckles. "That depends on what you're thinking, but the likelihood is... yes."

"So there's still hope for Zelda and Zurin?"

She nods. "In Zelda's case, it's as simple as the Hero defeating Demise and transferring his soul into the Master Sword, while Zelda's transfers back to her own body. But In Zurin's case, it's more complex. As Demise didn't actually remove Zurin's soul, the soul would have to be transferred from current occupants back to Zurin through a sacred vessel such as the Master Sword."

"How does that even happen?" I ask.

She ponders for a few moments, before speaking. "A touch of the Master Sword is enough, no one must be harmed in the process. But seeing as Zurin's soul transferred to Pipit, Karane, and Emzy at the same time, they'd all have to touch the vessel at once. No one else must touch the vessel during the transaction process."

I nod. "That doesn't seem too difficult..."

"The mortal goddess must be the one to perform the transaction," she concludes.

    "Oh..."

  9. (( Ahh yeah, damn, now I'm getting confused! You might wanna change the first line of yours then :P ))

The old woman is standing in centre of the temple as Fledge and I arrive. She lets out a low noise that slowly resembles an 'ahh'.

"Callia, what happened to you?" she asks.

"It's a long story..." I say. "But we need your help!"

She nods understandingly. "I know. I foresaw your arrival. Tell me what has happened."

So Fledge and I relay the events to the old woman and she listens in silence, nodding at the appropriate times.

"What your friend is suffering is dark and complex magic... it will take great skill to mend."

I frown. "So... you're saying that you can't do it?"

A smile spreads across her face. "I never said that. Take me to him, I will see what I can do."

  10. "Where are you?" Karane asks Zurin with a sigh.

"Just north of the temple," Zurin replies, before the stones glow dims to nothing and his voice disappears.

Emzy looks horrified as she pockets the stone again, looking around as us all in confusion.

"We can't kill him!" Pipit yells.

Bryarly sighs. "What other choice do we have?" Bryarly asks. "Look what he's done to us! To Callia! There's no other choice..."

I push myself up into a sitting position, trying -and failing- to ignore the blistering sting that spreads over my skin from the burns. I don't know how bad this looks... I'm afraid to see for myself. But my mind is ticking away...

"Were you even listening?" Pipit snaps at Bryarly. "None of that was him! He's been magically possessed by Demise, there's no way to reverse it! Even if Link manages to kill Demise, it won't fix anything!"

"Maybe there's someone who can reverse the spell?" Karane suggests.

"No!" Pipit yelps. "The only person we know who's magic is Zurin himself!"

    "Maybe there's someone..." I whisper.

"What are you talking about?" Fledge asks.

I glance over to the doors that lead to the back room of the temple. "The old lady... when we first arrived in the temple she used her magic to unlock the doors for us..." Fledge takes the arm that's not been burnt, helping to pull me to my feet. I glance around, formulating a plan in the back of my mind. "Ok... Pipit, Karane, and Emzy. You need to go and find Zurin. If he's left out there on his own, he's going to go after the Triforce, we can't leave him alone. You need to bring him back to the temple, even if it's against his will, drag him back here if you have to! Lock the doors. If he really has been possessed by Demise, he'll try to fight you. Whatever you do, don't fight him! I don't want any of you dead - and as for him..." I pause, I'm angry, ridiculously so, but he needs to explain. "We have to find a way to get the real Zurin back."

Pipit frowns. "How are we supposed to not fight him? He'll be launching fireballs we'll just have to sit there and take it?"

I shake my head. "No... you'll have to find a way to restrain him... tie him to a chair if you have to! I know he keeps ropes in his satchel..."

"Don't you think that's a bit much?" Emzy cuts in.

"No." I reply. "I'm not taking any chances. While you guys are doing that Bryarly, Fledge and I will go through the gate of time and bring the old woman here. We need to see if there's anything she can do to help us... and we'll need her help to suppress Zurin's fire powers..."

  11. I watch him there for a moment, writhing in fury as Impa struggles to keep a hold on him. And it's then that I realised that no one else is going to do this, it will have to be me.

I turn, slowly approaching the furiously struggling Demon Lord I once called my friend. He doesn't notice as I approach, he's too preoccupied with trying to escape. But as I place my left hand on his shoulder, he comes to a stop. He stands still, heaving for breath as I find the right spot... directly underneath the ribs, able to puncture the lung and kill fairly quickly, certainly with less pain than going for another one of the organs. As I press the tip of my blade against that very spot, he tilts his head up defiantly, looking me in the eyes.

And maybe it's because we were friends once, but something about the way he looks at me causes me to recount the adventure. More specifically, every enemy we've faced. And as I cast my mind back, I can't seem to recall a single enemy that I defeated myself, someone that I delivered the final fatal blow to. And as I watch him standing there, looking me dead in the eye, something in the back of my mind is forcing me to reconsider.

    "Callia - hurry!" Impa grunts.

I'm so angry... so infuriated from everything - I want to do it, I want all this pain to just be over... but I don't want my to be the fatal cause... especially not for someone that I once called my friend.

But that's when Impa loses all power over the situation. Zurin gives one last heave, raising his leg and letting loose with a backwards kick that sends Impa flying. Her thin figure skids across the floor of the temple, though she doesn't appear to be too badly hurt. Zurin looks at me, and for a second it looks like he wants to say something, but he doesn't. Instead, he clenches his jaw, raises his hands, and unleashes one final fireball.

It's not until I hit the ground that my mind registers what just happened. I can hear the sound of Zurin's heavy footsteps and the side doors of the temple being thrown open. I can hear Pipit and Karane arguing about whether or not to follow him, and I can hear the continual soft rhythmic grinding over the Gate of TIme. But the horrific stinging sensation overwhelms it all... my skin is raw with pain from every move I make as I pull myself up onto my hands and knees. I can feel the skin blistered and singed all around my left collar bone. spreading from my upper arm, over my shoulder and onto the left hand side of my neck and jawline. Even now, as I try to stay perfectly still, the pain throbs in my skin. Fledge tries to say something to me, but I can't make sense of a single word... all I know is that tears just make it burn more.

    That's when I scream.

  12. (( HOLY HELL LET'S KEEP YOURS!!! ))

I stare at him in silence for a few moments, unsure of how exactly I'm going to process that. All along, all along I said he wasn't to be trusted. I warned them time after time that this was a bad idea, and yet they continued to stand by him. He came with us, journeyed with us all this time only so he could betray us right at the last moment. All this time, everything we shared was just a sham, a trick, he lied so we would trust him.

I clench my jaw as I hold out my hand behind me, turning to look at Pipit. "Give me my sword back."

    "Callia, I-"

"Give me my sword back," I repeat, trying to keep my voice as level as I can. He glances around hesitantly, before laying the swords handle in my palm.

"Don't do anything you'll regret," Pipit says. "You know as well as I do that you're not much of a fighter..."

I know he's right, but this time, I'm fuming. I've never known anger like this. I twist the sword in my grip as I make my way over to Zurin, the man I thought was my friend, the man who saved my life on more than one occasion, only to betray us all at the last second.

"I knew it," I spit as I step up to him, standing level with the Demon Lord. "I warned my friends not to trust you. You're a demon, evil by nature. But you thought you could fool us. You gave us your words, your lies, your little sob story about being rejected from society. You so carefully orchestrated your plan, agreed a sham rivalry between you and Ghirahim. We welcomed you into our social group, into our homeland, and this is how you repay us?"

His face is expressionless as he listens to me talk. But the words come again, hissed between gritted teeth. "The Triforce will belong to us!"

I let out a soft laugh, trying to convey a confidence that I know isn't real. "The Triforce doesn't belong in the hands of your kind. The Triforce belongs to Link, and I would lay down my life to prevent you from getting your hands on it."

He raises one hand, sparking flames from his fingertips, but never losing eye contact. "You would be a fool to fight me," he spits out the words like they're poison as the flames slowly increase in size. "I've seen you fight," he whispers. "You're clever, girl. Certainly the smartest of your kind that I've encountered, though your people aren't renowned for their intelligence. But surely you must know that you couldn't defeat me."

I raise my sword, pressing the very tip just below his jawline. "I don't fight alone, Zurin," I reply. "But while it's true that I lack battle skill, I don't back down. And you know how well my friends can fight..." I dig the sword in just a little, not enough to hurt him. "So go ahead, do your worst, prove to me that I was right all along."

  13. (( I have to say I agree... any thoughts Knuckle? ))

Ghirahim stretches upwards, causing his sword to glow with the same red electrified magic. He unleashes the power, and it comes swirling towards Link in a wheel. He raises his sword, bashing the magic away, which causes it to fly off in a lopsided circle.

Zurin summons his own magic, conjuring a fireball between the palms of his hands. He launches it over towards Ghirahim, distracting him for a few moments and giving Link and opening in which to deliver a few vital stabs to the now opened diamond shape on Ghirahim's chest. He grunts in agony, before pushing himself back to his feet. I can tell that his power is beginning to wane a little with every stab Link delivers.

Emzy clambers back up to her feet, standing beside Link and Karane where they battle. I rush over, handing my sword to Pipit. "Here," I say. "You're a stronger fighter than I am!"

Zurin conjures yet another fireball, launching it back to Ghirahim, which gives Link yet another opening in which to unleash a number of powerful thrusts into the diamond centring Ghirahim's chest. As he he drops to his knees on the dusty earth, he looks up, his eyes burning with hatred as he heaves for breath.

  14. But Ghirahim suddenly lashes back, performing a round house kick that knocks us all back and gives him more ground.

"Spread out," I call out to my friends as we clamber back up. "But stay away from the edge... he can't get us all at once."

Ghirahim looks around at us all, and I can see the metaphorical cogs ticking away behind his marble coloured eyes. He's trying to analyse which one of us is the weakest fighter, but I already know that answer to that question...

He turns to me, the malice fixed on his almost solidified features. I'm surprised as he approaches that he doesn't produce a weapon, instead, he just clenches his fists tight. I watch as his glassy muscles tense, giving me the opportunity to prepare for his moves.

He unleashes a speedy drop-kick, but I manage to duck before he lands a hit.

    "Callia! Be careful!" Bryarly screams.

I nod, but don't take my eyes off Ghirahim. He clenches his fist tighter, drawing it back to throw a punch, which gives me an opening. I swing my sword in and it clangs against his metallic form, but I don't think it so much as scratches.

"The diamond!" Zurin shouts. "It's his weakness! Aim for it!"

Ghirahim narrows his eyes, clearly growing frustrated with my incompetent fighting skills already, but I've got a plan. I wait for him to swing back again, but this time, I direct my sword in a sharp stab. The very tip of the blade digs into the small crack between the layers of the diamond shaped metal on his chest. He glances down, smirking that I didn't break the diamond, but that wasn't my plan.

I twist my sword around to the right, causing the inner-most layer of the diamond to break off with a loud crack.

And that's when he loses his patience.

He lets out an angry growl, delivering another swift kick that lands me on the collar bone. I'm thrown backwards, reeling around. My stomach plummets as I feel my tunic scrape against the cold magical floor. But what makes my gut ache even more is when I feel the floor vanish. I let out a yelp, closing my eyes as I feel my torso flip over the edge.

It's only as the fall comes to an abrupt stop that I realise I'm clinging onto the edge with both my hands. I can feel the sharp edge of the diamond tiles biting into the skin of my palms, but it's nothing compared to the feeling of knowing there's nothing but a sharp drop beneath me.

My fingers are already aching, Ghirahim looms over me with a smirk, and I can hear someone screaming my name. But all I know is that I can't hold on much longer...

  15. It takes us a long time and a lot of hits, but eventually, we defeat the bokoblin hordes and make it to the bottom of the Sealed Grounds where Zurin and Ghirahim are already battling. A little of my fear subsides as I realise that this time, Zurin is on our side.

As Link takes a step closure to the Demon Lords, their battle comes to a lull. Zurin is fighting to catch his breath as Ghirahim turns, looking at us. His expression sours to a horrified grimace as he turns, cape billowing in the wind. "You're far too quick, children!"

Link takes a step forward, unleashing a warning swipe with his sword.

Ghirahim turns his full attention to Link. "I realise a simple child like you knows nothing of magic, but spells like this take time and a steady hand! Can't you wait quietly like a good boy? HMM! You petulant brat... You've pushed me too far. I've waited my whole existence for this! This is my moment! You know what? Fine!"

He unleashes a growl of anger, swinging his arm underneath Zelda's floating body and propelling her high up into the air. I stare up at her in silence, horrified as she lets out a groan of pain.

"If you're so intent on hurrying to your grave, I'll be happy to show you the way!" Ghirahim continues, turning to look at each of us in turn. "ALL of you... especially you," he spits as his eyes fall on Zurin. "This time there will be no heroic escape. I was a fool to toy with you and let you walk away with your life before, but I won't make that mistake again."

He stoops down, placing the palm of his hand against the dusty earth. Blackness begins to swell through the dusty ground as the rusty coloured diamonds begin to rush up from the ground, increasing in speed with every passing second, Ghirahim becomes enveloped by the ferocious red diamonds as his growls increase in volume.

"What's he-" Emzy begins, but Zurin cuts her off.

"No..." he mutters, his voice low, but panicked. "NO!" He turns to us, a tone of urgency in his expression. "You need to get away... get out of here, NOW!" he yells.

"What in the name of Hylia is he doing?" Pipit yells, instinctively taking a step back.

I just watch in silence as the rusty diamonds turn the same onyx black as Ghirahim's pupils. The ferocity is ever increasing, the diamonds now forming a swirling tempest around Ghirahim's hunched figure.

"That... I promise!" Ghirahim yells as he reaches upwards, sending the blackness up in a powerful jet above him.

  16. Link let's out a hefty grunt as he staggers to his feet, but he doesn't get further than a few steps before the weight of his sword and shield drag him back down again. That explosion... hit hard. I reach over, dragging my satchel onto my lap and pulling out five stamina potions.

"Here..." I say, handing them out to Link, Bryarly, Emxy, and Groose. "These should keep us going until we get over the impact of that..."

"What about the others?" Bryarly asks as she uncorks the bottle and necks the toxically green liquid.

"We don't have the time," I mutter, hating myself for it. But I can't deny the truth. Whatever's going on, whatever Ghirahim plans to do to ressurect Demise in the past, isn't going to end well for Zelda. And goddess only knows what Zurin's up to. I don't know where he came from or who's side he's on, it's his apology that confused me. Was he apologising for what he did? ...or what he's about to do?"

I down the disgusting potion in a few gulps and collect the empty bottles from my friends. The five of us clamber up to our feet, and with silent nods of mutual agreement, we take off, running through the Gate of Time.

You're not getting away with it this time, Ghirahim.

  17. ((DAMNIT KNUCKLES SO INTENSE!))

As I gaze around me, it's so clear to me that everything was meant to be this way... all along. This place, basked in the glorious shining rays of the Triforce, has never been more beautiful. Now that Demise is gone, there can be nothing but tranquility in this stunning land. And just in that one perfect moment, I knew that I could never live contentedly in Skyloft again knowing that all this wonderful land was waiting down below... and from the look on my friends faces, I know that I'm not the only one. The Surface is our home now...

"Master Link, I bring news," Fi says calmly. "I have confirmed that the Isle of the Goddess, which was formerly a part of Skyloft, has returned to the Surface. Furthermore, I have detected the successful eradication of Demise. Your prayers to the Triforce have been heard. In light of these factors, the seal Zelda maintained through her agelong sleep is no longer necessary. My projections indicate she will wake momentarily. I advise you make your way to the Sealed Temple as soon as possible."

Link doesn't even stop to talk to us to confirm what we're all thinking. He just runs, swan-diving off the platform and falling down to the ground below. At the last moment, he pulls out his sailcloth and floats elegantly.

"He's so smitten over her," Pipit says with a smile.

We all laugh, before making our way over to the platform and diving over the edge. The second we touch ground, we all take off running, making our way over to the doors of the Sealed Temple, with Link already inside.

As we enter the building, Groose and the old woman stand near the Gate of Time, smiling. Link has already run on ahead, and is pushing through the doors to the backroom where Zelda slept. Karane takes a step forward, but Bryarly reaches out and takes her by the arm, holding her back.

"Don't," she says softly. "Let Link have his moment with her... we'll see her in a minute."

Karane nods understandingly and steps back, but I'm just smiling as I watch Bryarly. Maybe, just maybe... she might be starting to get over him.

The old woman studies us carefully, her aged eyes narrowed. "What happened to your friend, Zurin?" she asks in her husky voice.

"The less said about him the better," I reply. I don't want to talk about him right now, not now that everything is finally going right.

It's a few minutes later when Link finally returns. He and Zelda walk, hand in hand towards us, giggling like little children. Zelda, dressed in a gloriously white dress with long sweeping sleeves, has never looked so happy. And as for Link... well Link can't take his eyes off of her. My heart leaps at finally seeing all my friends, old and new, gathered together in one place. Groose lets out a happy gawarf, looking clumsily between Link and Zelda. He runs over, wrapping Zelda up in a Gorilla hug before clamping his hands on Link's shoulders and shaking him from side to side, not like a bully, like an overly happy dork. He runs between us, hugging us all in turn, and crushing my ribs in the process. He then leaps towards the old lady, hugging her tiny figure too.

Zelda turns, watching us all with her calm lilac eyes. "My friends..." she says, walking towards us. "I-"

But she doesn't get a chance to finish before the copper diamonds appear in an explosion, throwing us all backwards.

  18. (( I need to stop writing such long replies, I'm sorry, I can't help it! :'( ))

As the blinding whiteness fades I'm met with a strangely familiar, yet unfamiliar setting. The air shares the same glimmering blue-white glow as the silent realm, but instead of being in a previously visited location, we're stood in a small room, made of what looks like stone with two glowing lamps in either side of the room. In the centre of the space, on a pedestal, lies a glowing golden triangle. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen... it's impossible to stop staring.

Link steps forward, and gently reaches out, fingers outstretched. It doesn't take more than the tips of his fingers to touch the shape before the entire room is plunged into a musky gray darkness. It's unnerving, and out of instinct I reach out to grab Fledge's hand. Just then, the light from the two lamps begins to spread, and the room is filled with a warm amber glow. Seconds later, I feel the sensation of my soul vanishing from the realm and returning to my natural body.

Yet when my view returns, I'm not stood in the temple any longer. I'm back in Skyloft, high atop the statue of the Goddess. I look around myself in confusion, but my eyes fall on Link and the sacred mark on the back of his hand begins to glow. Suddenly the glow erupts, spreading in every direction as the three pieces of the Triforce appear in front of us, swirling and spiraling like beautiful dancers. That's when Fi emerges from Link's sword.

"Master, I believe at this juncture a prayer is required. The ultimate goal we have travelled so far for is now within reach. Focus now, and wish with all your might for the destruction of Demise."

Link nods slowly, and turns, to look at the sacred power. He closes his eyes, and I can feel the tension as he prays. I softly close my eyes too. I'm well aware of the fact that I don't possess the Triforce, and my wishing and praying probably won't make a difference, but if there's even the slightest chance then it's worth a try.

Please, let Demise fall, I silently pray. Let the surface prosper.

As I open my eyes, I watch the pieces of the Triforce form together. There's a silent lull for a moment, before the Triforce suddenly brightens, illuminating the entirety of Skyloft and the sky. It's the brightest thing I've ever seen... I'm forced to close my eyes and turn away.

That's when I hear the sound of splintering wood. I turn suddenly, dropping to my knees and peering over the edge of the statue of the Goddess, only to see the wooden bridge cracking and dropping away.

"What's happening?" Emzy screams and the isle of the Goddess begins to tremble and quake as it breaks away from the rest of our home. Slowly, surely, the island begins to plummet down through the sky, dropping away from everything familiar. I'm clinging to the stone for fear of falling off, everyone else drops down, desperate not to be chucked off the statue. We sink down through the cloud barrier, and as I spot the lush greenery, I realise that we're dropping into the Faron region.

With a loud grinding noise and a humungous crash the statue of the Goddess falls into the sealed grounds... and suddenly it all makes sense.

Demise, imprisoned at the bottom of the pit, has been locked in by the physical presence of the Goddess, her statue... the reason why the innards of the half broken temple here looked so familiar to me was because I knew them, they're the same as the one's previously in Skyloft that have plummeted down now. The shape of the Sky Keep perfectly fits with the shape of the sealed grounds...

The goddess, the sacred Hylia, she so carefully orchestrated it this way all along...

  19. ((Sorry if it seems like I'm rushing to get to the end of the temple, I just find that explaining every detial of temple puzzles in RPs can get a little tedious!))

But moaning won't get us anywhere, so we press on.

The second piece of the Triforce, the Triforce of Power, which filled the top segment, was found in a lava infested room. We had to solve multiple puzzles whilst on platforms of rock moving over lava. It was risky, to say the least, one slip-up and we would have fallen to our deaths. But that wasn't going to stop us. And soon, Link had claimed the second piece of the sacred power. All that was left was the Triforce of Wisdom.

We're working in a room that loosely resembles the sandship, when Emzy lets out a heavy sigh, standing with her hands on her hips.

"How are we doing for time?" she asks.

"It's hard to tell indoors..." I mumble. "But according to my calculations, it should only be mid-afternoon, we've made pretty good time on this temple!"

Link nods. "And there's only one piece of the Triforce left. If we can find it today and make the wish... then we can be reuinited with Zelda before the sun sets."

My stomach sinks, a little disapointed that the adventure is coming to such a quick end... but I suppose we all know that it has to happen at some point.

"Then let's get moving," Pipit says, cutting off my thought patterns. We press on, working together to transport the time-orb to the correct place, raising platforms from the ground. We carefully leap over and Link hookshots us all over to a section of the room that's fixed on a higher level. And sure enough, we're met with the mark of Nayru, symbolising the last piece of the Triforce.

"It's the last one..." Link mutters. "I think we should all go in together..."

"I guess that makes sense..." Bryarly replies.

We all grab hold of the sword together, and plunge it deep into the mark, transporting us one last time into the spirit realm.

  20. "Don't you dare-!" I shout, but as my voice echoes through the empty space I realise that he's gone. He didn't even hear me.

Pipit lets out an irritable grunt, turning and pounding his clenched fist into the uneven rocky walls. Dust crumbles off the wall, and his knuckles are bleeding a tiny bit, but he doesn't even seem to notice.

"We need his help," Bryarly mutters. "This dungeon could contain anything... his teleportation and his fire powers could be useful..."

"How could he just leave like that? After all that time? How could he just be so selfish? He tells us we're his 'dear friends' and then runs off and leaves us to do what will probably be the hardest part of our quest!" I exclaim. "How could he?"

"Well you didn't exactly make him feel welcome," Pipit growls.

"Guys!" Link intrudes. "Arguing isn't going to get us anywhere. Zurin's gone. There's nothing we can do! There's literally no point arguing over this when any second now, Demise could awaken and begin to terrorise the surface. We need to put things into perspective. Once the quest is over and the surface is safe, then we can go on another mission, scour the surface for Zurin and get our answers. Ok?" We all nod, and Link continues. "Good, now, if you'll excuse me..."

He pulls the Master Sword from his back and stands over the mark on the ground, sword raised high above his head, then plunges it into the mark. He lies still for a few moments, almost like he's doing another silent realm. But then, slowly, surely, I see the three golden triangles begin to glow on the back of his hand. The bottom right portion of the Triforce glows brighter than the rest, and he returns to his body a few moments later.

"This," Link says, grinning and holding up his hand. "This is the Triforce of Courage."

  21. "That's it!" Link grins. "We got to the door... apparently, we've set out the temple so that the Triforce should be in the next room."

"Be careful," Bryarly warns. "It'll probably be heavily guarded with loads of enemies or a complex puzzle..."

"It's ok," Link reassures us with a smile. "We're all here together. If we can beat the last silent realm, then a few dungeon puzzles won't be an issue!"

We all laugh, it's good to let out the nervous energy like that before tackling whatever's on the other side of the door. Link reaches down, pulling up the heavy door an granting us access into the room. It's rather dark and bland in here, and I'm rather surprised by the lack of anything... there's a door on the far end of the corridor.

Pipit frowns as he glances at the map. "I don't get it... the map says that door should be locked..."

"No, look..." I whisper, as I make my way over. The floor just in front of the doorway is littered with puddles of metal, set rock hard. A slightly deformed padlock lies in the centre of the mess. "The lock has been melted right off..."

"Zurin," Bryarly mutters. "He's a fire sorcerer."

Pipit lets out a heavy groan, rolling up the map and sticking it rather inelegantly in his back pocket. "It's getting harder and harder to think that it's not Zurin..." he groans.

"Let's just get on with this," Fledge says. "We're making good time, we might even be able to catch up with him, talk to him..."

We all nod, and open up the door to allow us entrance into the next part of the room. We have to cross over a few narrow platforms that seem fairly pointless to me. We're lead to another door, which opens out into a scary room. There's a dim purple hue to the place, and the floor is littered with stalfos bones and broken arrows... some kind of battle must have gone down in here. We push on further, finding ourselves by a small gateway.

Pipit swallows hard. "According to the map, the Triforce is right through here..."

  22. ((Great job on this Knuckles! I'm really enjoying it :D Apologies for the long response, I got excited!))

"Oh come on," Pipit says. "You can't seriously think this was Zurin!"

I glance up. "Think about it! He's the only other person who knew about the stone of trials. AND he knew what to do with it! Who else could it have been?"

"You can't be serious," he replies.

    "I'm deadly serious," I insist.

"You've had it in for Zurin ever since the day we first met him!"

Link sighs. "I hate to say it Pipit, but what Callia says makes sense."

"Look, let's not argue about it," Emzy cuts in. "Let's just work on finding a way in there!"

So we set off, looking around the Goddess statue for a way in, but all the pathways have been destroyed since the rock crumbled. It's only as we make our way over to the bridge that I see a small group of people congregated on the far side of the lake. We make our way over, tagging onto the back of the group.

"What's going on?" Link asks, tapping Orielle on the shoulder.

She turns, shrugging. "I'm not sure, there's all these weird balloons floating in the sky... and there's some kind of doorway!"

Link grins. "It sounds like we've got our way in there."

Link pulls out his hookshot and helps to hoist Emzy up onto his back. She loops her arms around his neck as he aims his hookshot at the target. Without Zurin here, it looks like we're being forced to take the long route.

After a few minutes, we all stand on the tiny platform outside of the temple.

"You guys ready for this? There could be anything in there..." Bryarly asks.

"We don't have much of a choice, let's do it," Karane replies.

We all make our way up the steps and into the gloomy temple. I'm surprised to find such beautiful golden architecture inside, beams and doorways intricately carved to shape the small room. An ornate white-gold chest lies in the centre of the space, though it's already open.

"Someone's definitely beaten us in here," Bryarly muses.

    "Zurin," I clarify.

"You don't know that..." Pipit insists.

I roll my eyes. "Who else could get in? You'd need a hookshot, Zurin can teleport!"

He doesn't reply, instead makes his way over to the open chest to pull out an aged map. He unrolls it, carefully studying it.

"The Triforce is definitely here," he murmurs as we gather around him. He points to three golden triangular marks on the map. "I'm guessing these are the three sections of the Triforce.

"Assuming that Zurin is ahead of us," Link says. "Then we've got to hurry if we want to catch him up. He's got a head start on us, he can teleport between rooms... we've got to take the long route."

"Come on," I say. "We don't have time to lose."

As we set off through the open doorway, my stomach is twisting with nerves. Every way I look at it, all I can think is that Zurin must have been using us all this time... using us to get to Demise. I just wish I knew his motivations to find his old master again.

  23. The sun is just beginning to rise over the clouds when we all congregate just outside of the night academy doors. It's still dark enough for most of Skyloft to be drenched in shadow, but the tiniest hint of light is begninnig to dust the sleepy little town. I smile, pulling my satchal a little closer to my body.

"Right," I say, looking around at my friends. "We're still waiting for... Link," I think aloud.

Pipit grins. "What do you want to bet that he overslept?"

Bryarly laughs. "I'll go get him."

She runs back into the Knight Acadamey, being careful to close the doors quietly behind her so as not to wake our teachers. The rest of us converse quietly for a few minutes while we wait. We ponder how exactly Zurin knew what to do with the stone of trials while we didn't, what todays adventures might entail, and whether or not we'll really find the Triforce.

Just as the conversation reaches a lull, the doors of the Knight Acadamy are thrown open and Link and Bryarly tumble out, looking flustered.

"What's up?" Fledge asks. "Something wrong?"

"The stone of trials..." Link says, between gasps for breath. "It's gone!"

Karane frowns. "What do you mean gone?"

"I mean I woke up this morning, got ready, checked my satchel and it wasn't there!" Link replies.

"Are you sure it's not just in your room?" I ask.

He nods. "Positive. I didn't touch it, it should still be in my bag."

    Pipit sighs. "Oh cr-"

But before he can finish, an almighty crack resounds through out Skyloft, it's horrendously, ear-splittingly loud. And as quickly as it came, the town falls back to silence.

"What the hell was that?" Emzy asks, staring around at us all.
