Majora's Mask Hylian Symbols (help decode for walkthrough)

20 posts in this topic

Posted

I have compiled possible Hylian writings or symbols found in the game Majora's Mask. Anyone willing to help in unlocking the mysteries and secrets of these Hylian symbols are all welcome in my quest.

The picture compilation can be found here: http://undwight.tabulas.com

Rugnor had decrypted what's written mostly seen in signposts; Nintentou (ni n te n to u) or Nintendo. Another discovery I found on the first line of symbols found in Darmani's gravestone; "Saria"!

For the Hylian symbols and their equivalent japanese word, find photo references here:

http://www.omniglot.com/writing/hylian.htm

Hope you can help.... Thanks. All translations or transliterations will be added on my walkthrough currently posted in Neoseeker:

http://www.neoseeker.com/resourcelin...847&rid=150775

Help and be part of the credits.

Miru is the verb "to see" as far as I know. Sui is the on reading for water and mizu is the kun reading. In other words, I'm fairly sure it's not "water".

So it would be something like "Look! Lon Lon [Milk]!" but I don't know because I'm pretty sure "look!" would be conjugated as "mitte!".

And it's probably a waste to do that. Those are mostly recycled from Ocarina of Time. And much of it doesn't really make a difference.

Since it's unclear whether or not Termina or Hyrule came first, I'd also go as far as to say that you shouldn't call them Hylian. And if you do, don't say "symbols"... The characters by themselves don't really mean anything, unless they represent a Japanese word, but that wouldn't mean anything by itself. I think it'd be better to say, "Translating Hylian in Majora's Mask" or something.

And it doesn't say "Saria" on the first line. It says, "Riasara".

you really put an effort into this. your help is much appreciated. seemed few people translated and you're the only one who made such great list of transliterations. this is really outstanding. a few more to go... =) you played Majora's Mask in the gamecube console? i played the game using an emulator for the pics. are the pictures of hylian found in the gamecube version clearer than the n64 version, if it is - pls post the pics i have posted esp. those with unclear and blurred shots. thanks...

sorry i ruined your sleep.
