What's goin' on with Chat?

I Log on to chat and when I do it says there are 11 or so people on, but i don't see their names and the Screen is Grey and there are a Bunch of clickable smileys at the bottom...plus some new options....WHAT'S UP WITH THIS?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
