Marathon Man Theory

Yes, another one of my theories.

Inspired by the new screenshot of the him in Twilight Princess, I decided to examine the Marathon Man in Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time.

Now, in Ocarina of Time, he ran across Hyrule all day, and rested all night. He wore a uniform that made him look important, like a messenger of sorts. He was also very interested in rabbits. They signified swiftness, and so did he.

In Majora's Mask, he carried the mail. He seemed interested in rabbits, but not as much as in Ocarina of Time. He ran his routes and was very dedicated to his job. He seemed to deliver messages.

Meanwhile, remember Darunia, King Zora, and many other characters from Ocarina of Time mistaking Young Link for Hyrule's Messenger? Well, we never found out who this messenger was, exactly. By the sound of it, the messenger wasn't doing his job very well.

Well, I believe that the Marathon Man is Hyrule's Messenger. He was supposed to deliver countless messages (which Link ended up delivering instead) all across Hyrule. Well, being a slacker, he neglected his duties to run around Hyrule Field all day. Termina is a parallel version of Hyrule, right? Well, in Termina, Marathon Man strictly follows his orders, even if it means his being crushed by the moon. So in Hyrule, he is a complete slacker who doesn't care if he has orders, he'd rather do what he wants. In Termina, he seems to rarely go into the field, while in Ocarina of Time, he rarely seems to leave the field.

After Ganondorf's reign, he had no duties, so he was free to do whatever he wanted. It seemed he wanted to sit in the Carpenter's Tent and challenge random people that came to visit Gerudo Valley to a race. He was obviously the fastest man in Hyrule, and always beat his opponents by "Only a second."

All in all, I believe that the messenger of Hyrule, is the Marathon Man.

I heard that the English translator never got anything that congratulated you for beating the Marathon Man, so I guess it's impossible, but no idea why they would actually put it in there in the first place.... Fantastic theory!
