Posted 17 Jan 2009 (edited) The topic on Stallord and its possible relationships to other enemies in the Zelda universe got me thinking about groupings in monsters and organizing them into categories. This got me thinking about scientific names. So I decided to compile a list of possible scientific names for various enemies in the Zelda universe using an English-to-Latin online translator. Note that many of these are just adding the -us suffix to the names, and I am aware of that, so there is no need to point that out. Moblin: Sus mobusBokoblin: Sus bokosMiniblin: Sus minimusPoe: Phasmatis poeusGhini Phasmatis ghinisOctorok: Octomus vulgarisBig Octo: Octomus magnusDeku Scrub: Frutex dekusBusiness Scrub: Frutex resMad Scrub: Frutex dementisArmos: Armos statuaArmos Knight: Armos militisArmos Warrior: Armos proeliatorDeku Baba: Babas dekusBoko Baba: Babas bokosBio Deku Baba: Babas aquaBaba Serpent: Babas serpentis (seriously, the stupid online translator did not have a word for snake)Diababa: Babas rexStal: Stallus caputStalchild: Stallus parvulusStalhound: Stallus canusStalkin: Stallus minimusStalfos: Stallus inimicusStallord: Stallus dominus I will update and expand the list later.
