    The commercials and the pace of the movie make it seem like the main character is about to go on this awesome adventure, but she kind kind of like, stays within 2 miles of her castle. And then goes back to it. So I dunno. Also the ending seemed pretty forced

    I should rewatch it maybe. It was one of the weaker Pixar movies, but maybe it was because I was expecting something else. If you say it's great, it's probably worth a rewatch.

    You have dissuaded me from playing the game. I feel the same way about homestuck and the general influences that it has had on other works on the Internet. It's hard to put a finger on it exactly. You pretty much explained it, though. 
     
    I have been seeing bits and pieces of the game from second-hand sources. People posting about it and stuff. I thought the game seemed cool and fun. I wanted to play it. But the more people were posting about it, the more turned off I became. It was like the fans of the game felt like they were all "in on something". Like there was this vague sense of snobbiness or something that surrounded the game. It felt really insincere to see fans of the game try to very quickly make inside jokes about the game, as almost to like, stake their claim in it. There was this crazy rush to establish memes and in-jokes about this indie game so that they could say "yeah, I was one of the first people to play it!" Like, these people were already planning their "fandom" of the game before it even came out. It is just not a welcoming atmosphere and it's actually pretty weird to see it all play out. I don't understand how you can be a hipster with a videogame, but whatever. 
    I felt a similar way about Splatoon. It was like all of these people decided beforehand that they'd be superfans of it. I feel like the memes that arose from it weren't organic or funny. It was like they scoured the game for something that they could make an inside joke out of within the first few days of release. It's hard for me to put my finger on why this is off-putting. I wonder if I am the only one who feels this way about these games.

    A black character in the upcoming Power Rangers movie is being played by an Asian person. The world watches as SJWs everywhere are hesitating, planning their next move. Do they celebrate that a black character isn't playing the black ranger??? or do they criticize the choice for Asian-washing the role??? tune in next week
