I've played all the DR games now. Here's my review. DR1 > DR2 > DRAE
DR1's plot is the best by far and frankly I'd like it if they just treated it as a stand alone game. DR2's got slightly better gameplay but the plot is slightly not as good. Still enjoyable, I just didn't like it as much. DRAE is full of "eh." plot is downright boring and overall disappointing, save for a few jaw droppingly tense moments. The whole reason to play that game is to watch Komaru and Fukawa lezzing it up non stop, and occasionally enjoy the series' objectively best character, kurokuma. But really, unless you're a diehard DR fan, you can skip AE. After hearing the news that DR3 would be an anime that wraps up this whole story, and DR3 the game will be a completely new universe, I get the impression the studio feels the same way as I do about their story; They started strong with DR1, then fucked it up. They probably just want to finish it all off and try again. Though at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if DR3 the game was actually set in the same universe as the other games, and the studio is lying about that just to surprise us.
Yeah, I'm skeptical. Half of it is honestly animated great, and the other half is honestly awful. You're right about them picking that early berserk scene, I'm sure they'll probably have that bit with him and the girl and the wagon as an opener, then switch to the moth thing or something. Who knows.
I'll be frank, I was really distracted and inactive and I didn't send in an action because I'm a bad player. This problem compounded by the fact that I've been away from my computer and only just got back from christmas with my extended family. Cirt is currently a good vote I agree, but I don't want to vote just yet because I don't want to vote for her without more discussion throughout the day. Brodongo, I don't know if its safe or not for me to pledge publically what my night action will be because I'm sure it will help the wolves to their advantage. But I definitely see why you could suppose Silver and I would be working together. Maybe silver and I should just draw our own conclusions for our night actions based off your suggestion?
Yeah, and its gonna handle the Lost Children Arc. Which I understand, but i've been hoping to see an adaption of the count arc for a while. Lost children has a pretty definite beginning and end though, so it makes perfect sense they'd pick that one. As for the Hiatus, I'm sad about it too. But its only until this summer, and Miura specifically said that he was going to be coming back, so it's not like we're being left in the dark again. Not to mention he managed to get us the fuck off the boat before the hiatus began. He's probably taking the break so he can oversee the anime development to make sure it goes nice and smoothly. I remember for the original anime adaption of the golden age arc all of the changes they made to the story were made with his consent, so I figure that's what he's up to here, too. So the hiatus is both short and for a good reason. This is all good news in my book.
Everyone is gonna be town in this game. We've all been talking about it and we've all been waiting for it to happen. But none of us had the balls to do it. Except for one man. The man who would make werewolf great again. The man who would build a wall.
I'm not even sure what to say, aside from "Sorry for your loss." It's not like I can sit here and tell you I feel for you, because I've never even met the gentleman who was lost. And I've never lost anyone I've called a best friend to death like that. I'm just sitting here reading about a horrible tragedy that happened to someone on the internet that I can't totally wrap my head around. I've never had to co-officiate my best friend's funeral. I'm glad you came here to vent to us, that much I can say.
Like, I know I said "I'd read up on what happened and then weigh in" and never said anything. That was stupid of me, I got distracted by TF2 and spaceships. I only threw my vote around on day one because nobody was talking and I wanted everyone to wake up and get in the game, but now that we're all here and awake I don't have to do that. But now that I see all these blocking roles I honestly don't even want to vote for anyone. I just want to see what happens. Whats your game, LL? Are we the town capable of blocking the wolves, but since we cant organize to defeat the oppressors, we just randomly fight and block amongst ourselves, leaving the wolves to attack whoever they want and can get away with? And making us blame each other? Is that the lesson here? The oppressed must unite in order to defeat the oppressors? Am I reading this incorrectly? EDIT: OH SHIT I thought my post was going to merge with my previous post but ganny ninja'd me
Yeah, even games that are direct sequels to each other can have wildly different mechanics. Path of Radiance didn't let you choose what your character's class leveled into, but would sometimes let you choose things like, in the case of mages, letting them use either priest's staves or knives(always use staves who the puppy puts knives on a wizard). Or a cavalier might only be capable of using swords, but when they level up they can learn a new weapon, and that could be either axes, lances, or bows. Things like that. Then Radiant Dawn rolls around, and suddenly you don't have any control over your character classes, but they level up twice instead of once. So your soldier unit could turn into a halberdier, and then again into a sentinel, if I remember my classes correctly. Or a Fighter turns into a Warrior turns into a Reaver. A Myrmidon into a Swordmaster into a Trueblade. And it's always just crazy new mechanics like that. Awakening let you change people classes sideways. And now there's this crazy new bullshit with no classes altogether and a completely overhauled weapons triangle??? I honestly can't fathom it.
Okay, you know what this is getting really weird. I didn't want to say anything but I have a blocking role, too, that I was prevented from using because I was blocked. I'm beginning to think we all have blocking roles and the only way anyone is going to die in this game is by lynching. It almost makes me want to not kill anyone tonight, just to see if people getting blocked keeps happening. Maybe the lesson is if we keep blocking the same people at night and don't lynch each other during the day then.... I don't know???? We play this game forever?????
Couldn't it be said that Corrin was just added in order to get people hyped for the game in the same way that shulk was? Not that they're bad characters or whatever, but it seems like that would be a good reason for nintendo to want to make sure to include them.
Yeah, I honestly have no idea why T1G hasn't responded to the fact that the game has been on. I think he's just been playing Xenoblade Chronicles instead. I hate that all we have to talk about on day one is whos already inactive and thats all we have to lynch on though, so I'm gonna go harass him.
I don't know about that. I remember when Nabe used to play these games he'd always advocate a day one lynch, because that gave the town an opportunity to start things off on the right foot. If we wait for nightfall, we let the wolves make the first move. That helps them plan for whats going to happen at night, whats going to happen the next day, and how to control everything to make sure it goes in their favor. I think we should have a Day 1 lynch in order to protect ourselves better in the long run.
