  1. I'll have to watch that later, Jared.

I recently started making 3D beaded animals and was looking for new patterns. I found this deviantart.

  2. Pretty sure we could mail them a bunch of butter if it weren't for all the regulations about food. I remember not being allowed to bring back homemade pastries because they contained butter.

  3. Oh yay. Someone else who's played Merry Gear Solid. It's one of the most perfect Christmas games.

Not sure if this is the place, since it's already on the front page, but thespeedgamers is streaming their LoZ marathon right now, which should be fun.

  4. Yeah, I was a King's Quest fan back in the day, and I think the sixth one was the closest thing to having consistently logical puzzles. That says a lot, since at one point you're carrying water from the river Styx around in a teacup, which is just asking for trouble.

  5. I don't know if I'd want to kill anyone since there are many things worse than death, but If I had to I'd probably go with someone like Robert Pickton.

  6. Yay, I'm glad you got to watch Perfect Blue, Chimetals. I've seen that one so many times.

I watched Tokyo Godfathers too, and I enjoyed it for the most part, but probably would have enjoyed it more if my Mom hadn't come in and watched the ending with me. She spent the whole time bashing it, because in her opinion animation isn't a valid way to express human emotion.

  7. Man, I finished finals. This whole first-year engineering thing, which totally feels like it's trying to eliminate as many of us as possible, is quite difficult.

Hey, that's exactly what they try to do, from what my sister tells me. I guess the reasoning is that engineering is hard work, and it's better to get rid of the slackers early on.

  8. Tried out the server for the first time a few days ago. Spent the whole time sucking and getting killed, but now that I'm getting used to non-peaceful servers it's getting better. Just let me know if you need something done.

  9. Well, if anyone's gonna be on this Saturday I'd love to join in. I'll have the day off, so I'd probably be good for a few hours during the day (I guess morning-early afternoon for everyone else). I'm in the Pacific Time Zone right now. Oh, and if someone can send me the ip my username on there is twospoony.

EDIT: Oh, right. I still have to work Saturday at my other job.Oh well, if I have the ip I'll see when I can join you guys.

  10. Yeah, climbing to the top of Mt. St. Helens so I can get new outfits for my DQ9 characters? Hellz yeah! (actually it's kind of sad I couldn't think of too many 3DS games that would possibly come with DLC)

Actually, offering the right content at specific locations could make for some sweet pilgrimages. Like, say, a free VC version of Earthbound in a few choice locations at a certain time.

  11. oh, cool. I should update my 3DS for some of this stuff. Of course, none of those Nintendo Zones will be available to me until I live in a bigger centre. That or they start giving people achievements for bringing their 3DS to ridiculously remote locations, which could be make for strange road trips.

  12. The dowsing might make him look like Inigo Montoya. "Guide my sword..." Could look dramatic and cool until you run into a tree.

I think really huge swords tend to just look ridiculous, especially when the person in question is on foot. On horseback you need the added length to actually reach your enemies, and the extra weight is easier to deal with, since you're in a saddle and can use your whole body to swing the sword without going off-balance. The other exception is if there's an equally big guy swinging the huge sword, but at that point he could be swinging a dildo and still look terrifying.

On the other hand, I guess the giant swords kind of work in video games, since everything is over-the-top enough that having an oversized sword doesn't take you out of that willing suspension of disbelief.

Another impractical thing I notice a lot in video games is the back scabbard. It can be useful, especially for longer swords that would otherwise drag on the ground, and you don't have to deal with a scabbard flopping around at the character's side. But what bugs me is that they're usually full scabbards, or invisible (which makes sense in RPGs I guess, where the outfits and equipment change so frequently that designing scabbards would be a waste of time). Have you ever tried to unsheath a sword that's in a full scabbard on your back? It's incredibly awkward and time-consuming. Between the full scabbard and the shield on his back, it's a wonder Link can get his sword out at all, let alone in the half-second it takes to hit a keese.

  13. I like what you did the the hair and stuff. If I were into drawing and stuff I'd totally get one of those.

  14. Reading Elder Scrolls lore for about an hour. Time really does fly.

Found out there's an actual IRL book about the flying city of Umbriel which killed people and harvested their souls to power the city.

Also read all about Morrowind history and shit.

Why can't real history be this cool ):

Ooh, shiny. I heard all the Skyrim lore is also available in ereader format, for those annoying times when you're not playing Skyrim.

  15. I'm going on a beading kick. May have to make some beaded animals now, because this site has some adorable designs. Unfortunately, it's all in French, but I'll muddle through. I squidding NEED to make that octopus.
