Mainly because Blizzard solely rely on the subscription fees and purchases of the game to pay their staff's wages, to maintain their servers and pay their coporate tax. As well as production fees.

WoW is boring, it's just a grindfest juuuust like every other level orientated MMORPG.

It's hardly like RuneScape at all, you don't have to load anything. Save the initial load and the instances, as well as the continents.
