Protip: Don't save image files in .jpeg-- it ruins image quality and makes the outsides of like any like grainy.

Most people save as jpeg. It's fine for stuff like photos, because the graininess wont show all that much. But for pixel art, png is essential.

Also, I was about to mention the .jpeg/.png thing.

jpeg just ruins anything pixel related. Technically it does botch up pictures, too, but it's far less noticeable.

.png saves picture files exactly like they are, and take up less space than a .bmp.
