The armor sucks, and no one in the Imperial Legion talks to you unless you're wearing it. Also, I killed one once, and now all of them attack me on sight. Don't kill them. lol.

Now whenever I want to talk to an officer or something, I have to go kill a little guard and take his armor. It's a bit of a hassle.

I think the icon changes? But if it's in someone's house and you take it it's almost definitely stealing.

In Morrowind, the icon doesn't change. Just use common sense, usually.
