Surrogates

In the near future 90% of the Earth's population live via Surrogates, robots that look exactly like them...only better. The Surrogates (or Surri's) were created by Dr. Lionel Canter to let paralised people experience the world but in time his invention went to everyone. One night Canter's son went to a club and in the process of hooking up with a cute girl (who turns out to be an obese guy) when he is attacked and his Surri is destroyed, as well as the creepy guy's. The FBI sends Agents Tom Greer and Jennifer Peters to investigate and they discover that not only were the Surri's fried but the users were to fried (brains liquified in their skulls). Meanwhile The Dreads, a group of humans (who shun Surrogates) led by a mysterious man known only as The Prophet live in reservations.

Greer has become displeased with his Surrogate as of late and longs for some real interaction with his wife Maggie since the death of their son Robbie in a car accident some time earlier. Greer's investigations lead him to a man named Strickland who has a weapon that kills Surrogates and their users and chases him to the Dreads reservation where he too is nearly killed by the weapon but jacks himself out before it's to late.

Now free of his Surrogate Greer finds himself getting reaquainted with the outside world and he clues the Defense department to the knowledge that the dreads now have the weapon. They hit the Dread compound and kill the Prophet only to discover that he himself is a Surri...of Dr. Canter's. Doctor Canter was the target of a hit paid for by his old company and when he discovered this he put a plan into motion, by hacking into the Surri network (which shuts down any Surri remotely and jacking in the weapon he plans to kill everyone using a Surri (in an attempt to det them free). Greer discovers the plan and stops him from using the weapon to kill by shielding the users, but he allows it to fry every Surri freeing the world from Surrogates (at least for now). The movie ends with Greer and his wife (who is revealed to be heavily scarred and injured possibly from the accident) embracing.

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies

America is in crisis!

The stock market is in freefall, crime rates have exploded, banks are closing and the housing market has tanked. Seeing need for change Lex Luthor tosses his hat into the ring as a Third Party candidate and suprisingly he wins.

Months later things have returned to normal and Luthor is keeping a positive face. With the aid of his superheroes (Power Girl, Captain Atom, Katana, Starfire and Major Force) he is keeping the peace. That's when things get bad...

A mountain sized meteor of Kryptonite is heading for Earth and President Luthor has a plan to stop it, launching 50 nukes to blow it out of existance but Luthor wants to use Superman as a backup.

Againts his better judgement he agrees to the meet and once he's there is severly weakened by Luthors trap (surprise!) Luthor's trumpcard is non other than (now secret service agent) John Corbin aka Metallo. While Luthor makes his escape Metallo and Superman duke it out in a cemetary.

Metallo now upgraded with Professor Ivo's nanobots can regrow any part of his machine body that is lost and using a chunk of his Kryptonite heart shoots Superman in the heart with it. As Superman is about to die Batman shows up and using (Something like) symtex blows Metallo apart.

While Superman and Batman are escaping underground, Metallo is destroyed by a shadowy figure. When they return to the Batcave, Batman and Superman discover that Metallo is dead and Superman is being blamed by Luthor who puts a billion dollar bounty on his head.

Luthor meanwhile goes to a desert bunker and plans the launch of the nukes which he does. But (even though Lex Luthor is a 12th level intelect) he didn't forsee that the radiation whould detonate the bombs before they reached the meteor. Superman and Batman leave the cave to investigate who really killed Metallo (discovering that radiation is present) and are attacked by dozens of villians all seeking the bounty...including a few who are not interested in money at all (they were being mind controlled by Gorilla Grodd). After a very one-sided battle Captain Atom and the others arrive to take Superman into custody with a federal warrant.

After a battle Superman spirits Power Girl away and tries to reach her to the fact that Luthor is dirty and has an agenda other than what he says. Atom and the others return and in the process of another battle it is revealed that Major Force killed Metallo under orders from Luthor.

With the detonation failed Superman, Batman and Power Girl go to the bunker to get information on the Meteor so Batman and Toyman can destroy it. But Luthor is now very crazy (a byproduct of his incresing injections of Kryptonite laced steroids).

As Superman and Batman make their way to the bunker they are attacked by Hawkman and Captain Marvel. Superman and Batman take their costumes and attack Luthors bunker and are about to acquire the information when Luthor delets it. Luckly Amand Waller had made a copy and promply gives it to Superman.

Taking the information to Japan Superman and Batman approach Hiro, the new Toyman and use his Giant Superbatman robot to destroy the meteor.

The movie ends with Luthor, now impeached and in jail and Superman and Batman back in the public's good graces.

Zombieland

Welcome to the United States of Zombieland...

After a plague of "Mad Human Disease" sweeps the country. Most of the citizens are undead monsters who crave human flesh. The movie's "Hero" is a young man whose name is never mentioned he is nicknamed Columbus (as in Ohio) because that's where he's traveling by a man who calls himself Tallahassee (As in Florida) a crass, lude and crude zombie killer in search of the last Twinkie on earth. Along the way they run into sisters Wichita (Kansas) and Little Rock (Arkansas) hiding out in the back of a supermarket. Little Rock has been bitten and Wichita wants someone else to pull the trigger on her. Columbus tries but can't do it, Tallahassee is about to but Wichita recants and says she would do it. But this is just a trick, even before Zombieland these two have been grifting people and continue their work in Zombieland.

Their car and weapons gone Columbus and Tallahassee walk and come upon a town deserted, they find a yellow Hummer stocked with automatic weapons and after celebrating Tallahassee wants to seek vengence on the two girls from earlier. After a while they catch up to the car and find it abandoned with the hood open. But like before the girls hijack the Hummer and instead of leaving the guys behind decided to take them along. They seek to go to Playland an amusement park in LA thats zombie free.

As the group of strangers travel they connect and become a family and even meet a celebrity (Bill Murray, played by himself).

Hardwired

In the near future the worlds economy is in shambles. The United States is recovering with the aid of The Hope Foundation, a massive collective of Corporations selling ad space everywhere (Trojan Condom logo on the Washington Monument, Pepsi logo on the moon ect).

Regular everyman Luke Gibson and his wife Veronica decide to go for a drive when they are t-boned by an SUV. Ronnie dies and Luke is taken to the Hospital. Once there it is discovered that he has no insurance and he is taken to ward F (seeing as he is puppy3d). But Hope steps in and pays for his treatments including a special implant into the base of his brain.

The device saves his life at the exchange of his memories.

Luke returns home to his apartment and starts seeing strange things, a man in a suit and a woman in a red dress and they are trying to sellhim things.

Turns out Hope Foundation is Beta testing their newest form of advertising, selling ad space in peoples minds.

But someone at Hope made a mistake, where before they only targeted the druggies and homeless Luke Gibson had a family and he's no pushover, a former Special Forces soldier who survived two wars.

No Luke and a ragtag group of resistance fighters scheme to bring down the Hope Foundation and end their corporate evil.

Review #2: Hellboy 2 The Golden Army

Hellboy 2 Tells the story of a group of amazing individuals who fight monsters and other supernatural threats. the BPRD (Bureau of Paranormal research and defence) team consists of Hellboy (a super-strong demon) Liz (His pyrokenetic girlfriend) and Abe Sapien (a fish guy who is Psychic).

HAY. LIZ IS NOT HIS GIRLFRIEND. she refuses to be like that, however bad hellboy wants her. get it right. jerk.

and show a little more respect for abe.

Blood and Bone

A recently paroled prisoner, simply named Bone checks into a halfway house. That night he makes his way to an out of the way illegal streetfight. Pinball, the promoter is touting his champ fighter "The Cowboy" against James's champ "The Hammerman" a gigantic mountain of a man owned by a slick hustler name James and trained by Asiatic, Hammerman kills Cowboy in mere seconds and Pinball pays James his money.

Bones sees James's girl Angela, a vacant drug addict and gets himself noticed by James.

Later Pinball finds Bones in the back seat of his car and is convinced to take him on as a fighter. Bones is an expert martial artist and takes out opponents with lightning fast moves and skill. And he also looks after Sylvia (his landlord) and her foster kids Jordan and Isabelle and befriends Roberto another tenant.

It is revealed that Bones befriended a man in prison named Danny who as he lay dying from a severe shanking tells Bones to "look after my wife and son". Danny was framed by James for murder and had his wife (Angela) stolen from him and his son (Jordan) placed in the system when his mother turned to drugs. Bones then leaves LA looking to avenge his twin brother who was killed because someone thought he was his brother.

Prison Break: The Final Break

When we last saw the Fox River crew (TV series finale) they were finally exonerated for the crimes they were arrested and sent to prison for. The Company's leader "The General" was in prison and everything was right with the world. Then they jump ahead in time (the series having taken place in a one year span) to show the group in 2008 meeting at Michael Scofields grave.

The movie shows how he died, in the greatest escape ever.

At Michael and Sarah's wedding they are approached by FBI agents and Sarah is arrested for the murder of Michael's scheming, lying bytch of a mother. Due to overcrowding Sarah is put in Miami-Dade Prison, where not only do the guards hate he for her part of the Foxriver escape but The General, who is in the adjoining mens facility but former villian Susan B. Anthony both seeking vengeance against Michael.

After Sarah is nearly poised Michael decides to put his brain to use with another Prison Break plan.

This movie is true to the series and shares it's same twists and action moments all culminating in a heart wrenching finale that will definitely make you think about freedom.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Set in Hollywood 1935, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" takes place in a reality where toons exist as real beings, filmed with cameras on sets much like movies. Toonmaker R.K. Maroon hires P.I Eddie Valiant to tail Jessica Rabbit, the wife of toon star Roger Rabbit and take photo's of her secret meeting meeting with Marvin Acme the gag king and owner of Toontown, the Cartoon realm the toons call home.

Valient is shocked to discover that Jessica is not a toon rabbit, but a curvy, seductive toon woman who plays pattycake with Acme. Taking pictures he and Maroon show a despondant Roger of his wife's infedelity, Roger flees the studio seeking revenge on Acme.

The following morning Valliant is approached by an old police friend who tells him that Roger killed Acme, by dropping a safe on his head. This stirs up memories of Eddie's own brother Teddy's death at the hands of a toon. Eddie meets The Judge, a cloaked figure who seeks to execute Roger by dunking him in "Dip" a chemical agent made of acid, terpintine and paint thinner the only thing that can kill toons. The Judge and his toon Weasel flunkies set out to find roger and Dip him to death.

Roger and Valliant set out to prove the Rabbit's innocence and stumble upon a conspiracy that threatens the existence of Toons and the future of LA itself.

The Purple Dragons under the command of Hun break into a labrotory and while in the process of stealing hitech gear are attacked by the Ninja Turtles. Later at the lair Splinter is watching his soap opera and a new bulletin interupts it shows a scene from the robbery and four turtles caught on security camera. Splinetr calls for his sons and tells them that they have been discovered, the turtles(03) who haven't gone out all day are confused by this.

Paying a visit to Purple dragon headquarters they find that the Turtles Hun has captured are shorter and act like goofballs as Raph puts it "They all act like Mikey!" The Turtles (03) make short work of the Dragons and rescue their (87) counterparts.

The Turtles (03) learn that the others are from a parallel reality where during an attempt to stop Shredder from aquiring the Mutagen he seeks overload his trans-dimensional device in his Technodrome sending it and them bouncing across the Multiverse and depositing them in the reality of the 2003 team.

Meanwhile deep underground Shredder and Krang (87) discover this and curious to see if they have counterparts in this reality search for Shredder who they find on the Utrom prison planet. Shredder is shocked to see that his counterpart and Krangs counterpart are one and the same and Utrom called Ch'rell. Ch'rell while in his Utrom form easily overpowers Shredder and takes his Technodrom as his own.

During a fight with the Turtles, Hun is exposed to the Mutagen and is transformed into a turtle mutant. Angered by this he ally's himself with his former master and his "daughter" karai who are using the Technology of Dimension X to create new robotic foot ninja and mutant creatures to fight the turtles.

After learning all he can about the multiverse, Shredder discovers that his plans to conqure all realities will be met with resistence, every reality he sees has...Turtles. (shown as clips from various turtle media including TMNT live action movies, TMNT computer animated movie, the many comic versions, super hero versions seen in the 2003 series, as well as alternate future, Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation and others)

Shredder kidnapps Splinter in an attempt to lure the Turtles out of hiding. Once he has them he uses a machine to scan their very essence which reduces the teams to atoms, he finds the location of the "Prime" turtles and leaves to erase them from reality ensuring that the Turtles everywhere will cease to exist.

April and Casey (03) watch as the new and improved Technodrom vanishes and just when all hope seems lost a dimensional portal opens up and both teams tumble out.

After they wonder how they were saved the turtles discover that their world is vanishing, first color fade to black and white then the black lines fade to blue and vanish into nothing (almost like drawings on paper?). Tracking the signal of the Technodrom the teams trace them to the Prime (CT) universe.

After a brief misunderstanding the three turtle teams work together to stop the shredder(03) from destroying all realities along with Krang and Shredder and Karai who is the one revealed to have saved the Turtles from being atomized.

Shredder is defeated and the turtles leave the gritty black and white comic universe...

The camera pulls back to reveal a long table in a studio with sketches of turtles on it. Two men are putting the finishing touches on the first issue of their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic. "Well that's finished" Eastman says. "Good I'm starving, wanna get a slice?" Laird asks. "Sure...man I hope this issue sells?"

Well it's certainly been a while since I've done this but here it goes.

The Man from Earth

John Oldman a college History professor abruptly leaves his farewell party and returns home to pack, only to be followed by his bewildered colleagues. Demanding an explanation for his leaving after ten years, John confesses a long hidden truth to his friends, he was born 14,000 years ago effectively making him a cromagnon (cave man). At first skeptical of his story, one by one his colleagues come to believe his tales of an extraordinarily long and fruitful life. But when the subject of the Bible arises, and his sidestepping of his place in the world of Christianity he reveals that he was the basis for the figure known as Christ, and that the divinity was a lie and the teachings Jesus became famous for he learned from Buddha. Seeing the pain and sorrow the announcement has made on the world views of his religious friends he recants and says it was all a big prank at their expense. As the friends depart, John and his girlfriend Sandy are left and he tells her the story was truth, which she always knew. As he tells her about his previous names, one in particular John Thomas Partee (as in Tea Party) a chemistry teacher from Boston 60 years ago, the last remaining college, Walter is shocked at the revealation that John Oldman is in fact his father who vanished 50 years earlier. The movie ends with an everlasting father watching his deceased child taken away in a coroners van. As John drives away leaving Sandy, he decides to stop being afraid of losing those he loves and takes a chance with the girl.
