Stress!

After the first week of school, I've been under major stress from my classes and after school activities. Physics and Pre-Calculus are both giving lots daily homework. They are both basically math classes (I hate math now). I get Physics...I don't get Pre-Calculus most of the time. My pre-calc teacher only tutors once a week - the day I have after school band practice. English class is a little easier, just a few essays here and there. Not as stressful, except the upcoming research paper. World Hystory is easy for me, just tons of work that's hard to keep up with. Band is fun, but it takes a lot of time and commitment after school and weekends, giving barely any time and energy left for homework. On top of that, I got some things to worry about this one guy and what he told my girlfriend (won't get into details, but just pissed me off yesterday).

 For those that are in a college - How do you keep up in everything? Is there any way to get rid of some stress caused by school?

Too keep up with more schoolwork, I'll unfortunatley have to be a lot less active. I'll try to get my act together. =/

Focus on one task at a time is what works best for me, and remember that it will be over soon.

hypothetically, got an english essay due next week but an history essay due tomorrow? do the history then the english (obviously), dont try and attempt everything at once. Dont even worry or think about the english essay til you've done whats most urgent. If you are working as hard as you can and still falling behind you could try cutting back a bit on your leisure activies (i know.. this sucks) like gaming / going out with friends / watching movies, having 5 minute showers instead of 30 minutes or having 8 hrs sleep instead of 10 or 12.

for me the best way to de-stress myself is go out with friends so I do that when I need it. but I try not to take too much time when I do this, just an hour or two.. only what I need, not what I want.

There was once a colege prfessor who at the begining of every college semester would walk in with a big glass jar, and stand up in front of the class. "I am going to talk to you about time management today" he would say.

He then opened the jar, and set in three rather large rocks until no more would fit. He the asked the class "is this jar full?"

The class would naturally reply "yes, you can fit in no more rovks"

To that, the profesor took smaller rocks and put them in the jar around the big ones and shook them down. Again he asks "Now is the jar full?"

Students reply "yes, there is nothing else you can put in there."

So the professor pulls out a bucket of fine sand and shakes it into the jar along with the small rocks and the big rocks.

He repeats his question.

Te students are catching on, they respond that the jar is not full.

So the professor brings out a pitcher of water and fills the jar to the brim with water. And he asks his quesion.

The kids, confused, say that it is, it has to be now.

"Correct he says, now, can anyne tell me te point of this?"

one student replys "there is always more time to put oemthing else in?"

"almost, replys the profesor, but no. The idea here is that the rockes and sand and water represent all you want ad have to do, the jar is the time you have. So if you don't put the big rocks on first, you'll never get them in after everything else."

So find your big rocks, and put them in your jar, evert day, learn to prioritize and it will get easier.

My brother didn't get stressed a college... But I guess that was art college. It's a bit more fun probably.

But he did sort of getting into the train of thought, were he thought there were messages coming from all around him and in everything.

Weird...

Two weeks ago, I stopped playing video games completely. This helped a bit, but I'm still not finding time for everything. 8-10 hours of sleep would be nice, but even my school work cuts into sleeping hours now. There is a bit of good news after today though - I have As in all my classes...except pre-calculus and physics. Those are my hardest and most stressful classes of the bunch. :banghead: I think I'm starting to slowly get used to all this work though.

So... Stop telling us about it and get to your work. Is seems like being on here is just eating up your time. Maybe not much, because you've probably already thought of that, but anytime on here is time wasted.

But remember. 'All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.' - Gandalf

I think it's relevant...

If you haven't noticed, I used to spend about an hour or so daily here. Now I'm only on for like 10 minutes, skimming through new posts.

P.s.: Just got back from marching tournament...1st place! (3A Auxiliary and Band) :)

Nice one. I didn't notice. I have too much posting to do. I spend most of my time here actually. It's pretty much my life... How sad.

I too suffer from the stress of school. I pull an all-night note taking session once a week for World Civilizations, and Chemestry sucks because the teacher doesn't tell us what we're supposed to do. Throw English and Spanish on top of that and you have my average week. I didn't say math because I have no problems there. It's easy, and therefor not very stressful.

Breaking things is a good way to relieve stress, like Real Link said, just break things, or get one of those squeeze things. I had one that looked like a brain. I had no stress, but it was still fun to squeeze
