  1. "I don't know..." Bryarly mumbles, her eyes narrowed to just slits "just... odd."

I laugh nervously, not daring to make eye contact with her because I know she'll break me. "I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about."

"Callia," she says sharply. giving me a stern look.

"You know," I mumble "I really think that you were close to Link this time."

    "Don't change the subject!"

    "I-"

    "Callia..."

    "No, I just-"

    "Callia!"

    "Fine! I'll tell you..."

    *Later that day*

The restaurant is now quiet, it's just me and the other trainee knights along with Kina. Everyone else is digging into bowls of warm soup as Bryarly and I stand at the counter slicing a loaf of crusty bread.

"You have to tell them!" she exclaims.

    "Not a chance!" I retort.

    "I'm telling them!"

"No you're not!" I cut in.

"Oh yes I am," she smirks.

"You are most definitely NOT telling them!"

"Tell us what?" Emzy shouts over from the table. She raises one coy eyebrow, clearly intrigued.

  2. This isn't fair. I don't want to have to stay here in the entrance to a dungeon, all the while knowing that Link is so close by. I don't want to miss a thing. This adventure is dangerous, it's risky, and at times it's terrifying. But it's the most fun I've had in a long time, and I need to know what's happened to Link and Zelda. I don't want to be left behind, but I know deep down that Bryarly is right.

"Why don't the two of you go back to the sky?" Zurin asks "Fledge can take you on his loftwing, and when the group returns in the evening, you'll see everyone then." It's almost like he can read my thoughts.

"But I don't wanna miss anything..." I whisper.

"You'll be fine," Emzy says, pulling me up to my feet and taking my bags from me.

"Look at it this way," Bryarly says "you either miss one day of adventuring to recover, or miss the rest of the journey because you've messed up your leg."

    I sigh "fine..."

"Come on," Fledge smiles "you'll see everyone tonight."

Pipit pats Fledge on the back and Bryarly, Karane, and Emzy hug me as the two of us make our way over to the door.

"Look after her," Zurin calls to Fledge.

    "I promise," he replies.

  3. "Callia... you're-" Emzy begins.

"Forget about me!" I yelp, cutting her off as I try to ignore the searing pain spreading across my shin. "Zurin... where's Zurin?"

"Over here..." comes a soft mumble from a few feet away. Everyone looks up from where I lie on the ground, turning to see Zurin as he clambers up to his feet. Patches of his tunic are frazzled from the electric weapon that bokoblin had, and he seems a little disoriented. He shakes his head, blinking a couple of times.

"Great," Bryarly sighs "two injuries. Brilliant idea Zurin! Let's try and negotiate with a freaking bokoblin!"

    "I just-" he begins.

"No! Thanks to you, Callia can't even stand up, let alone walk!" Bryarly yells.

"Hey, Zurin got hurt too!" Karane cuts in.

"Enough!" I shout, pushing myself to sit up a little straighter. "Bickering won't help us find Link, let's just get to that temple of time you were talking about ASAP, Zurin."

"But you can't even walk..." Fledge mutters from the back of the group.

  4. I giggle as we break apart. Bryarly tears her slice of bread in half and hands one half to me. The two of us make our way back over to the table and I perch myself down on a stool as Kina weaves between us, clearing empty plates and glasses.

"How's the search going?" she asks.

Emzy sighs "we're closer, but not there yet. But we met a friendly Demon who's agreed to help us."

Kina stops still, gasping "A demon?" she exclaims. Bryarly, Fledge and I exchange nervous glances.

"Yeah," Emzy continues, completely oblivious. "His name is Zurin and he's agreed to be like a guide for us."

"Oh..." Kina utters "you be careful."

"Oh don't worry," I say, helping myself to some grapes and cheese "we will!"

We all finish up our breakfast, collect our possessions and new weapons, and make our way over towards the door.

"Well..." Emzy says, producing the gossip stone from her pouch "I guess it's time we called Zurin."

  5. I frown, propping myself up on my elbow and looking down at my friend. She looks so forlorn.

    "Bryarly?" I whisper "What's wrong?"

"I just... just..." she whispers. I can hear her voice cracking, almost as though she's on the verge of tears. Worry sets over me as I watch tears begin to swell in her eyes. She blinks furiously, washing them away. "Never mind..."

"No, come on, tell me!" I insist.

"No," she says stubbornly, rolling over. "Forget I said anything."

    "But you-"

    "Goodnight," she spits.

I sigh, collapsing back on my pillow and accepting defeat. Sometimes I do worry about her...

  6. I lie in my bed, warm and comfortable. There's something that feels so safe about being back in the Sky... I know that I'm back home. Still, I can't help but feel a little guilty that everyone in Skyloft is still worrying about us. I just wish there was some way to let them know that we're all safe... we can't do that though, of course. We'd get caught out and forced to stay here.

There's a soft click from behind us as the bedroom door gently opens. I look up, and see Bryarly wander in dressed in her night clothes.

    "Are you awake?" she whispers.

"Yeah," I reply "I think Emzy's asleep though."

She pads softly into the room. I lift up the edge of my duvet and she settles in next to me. Her long hair is kind of itchy, but I don't really mind. When we were little and one of us had a nightmare, we'd always go and find the other. That's one advantage of sleeping in your school.

    "I can't sleep..." she mumbles.

"Why's that?" I whisper, being careful not to wake Emzy.

"I still don't trust that Demon guy..." she replies "I think Emzy is being really quite naive to trust him..."

"Me too," I sigh "but you know that you can't talk Emzy out of something once her mind is set on it..."

  7. "Come in handy?!" Callia exclaims "HOW!? Brylarly is right, he's a self confessed DEMON! What if he tries to kill us?"

"If he wanted us dead, he'd have done it by now," Leala sighs.

Karane nods "Yeah, I'm with Leala. There's no reason why we shouldn't trust him."

I sigh "Fine, say we let him come along with us. How exactly are we going to explain to Kina that there's a Demon sleeping in her restaurant?"

"We'll figure it out," Karane insists.

"Enough debate!" Leala says "Let's take a vote... who says he should come?"

Leala, Karane and Pipit raise their hands.

    "Who says he shouldn't?"

Fledge, Bryarly and I raise ours.

    I scoff "Great plan Leala."

Suddenly, a loud cough sounds out from behind us. The surprisingly mild mannered Demon takes a step closer to us, and says "if I may interject here..."

  8. "He can't be far gone... he just can't be," Leala mumbles, taking a deep breath as she runs deeper into the dungeon. Her comrades follow just a few paces behind her. Pipit, Karana and Leala are all wielding swords and Bryarly, Fledge and I rush in all a panic.

"LINK! ZELDA!" Pipit yells into the large open room.

The only reply they're met with is silence and their own footsteps. All six of the trainee knights are completely unaware of the Demon hiding in the doorway just ahead.

"What's this...?" I mumble, leaning down to inspect the pile smoldering rocks that lies at the bottom of this steep slope.

"Who knows," Bryarly replies, "but we don't have time to worry! We need to move on, the longer we delay, the worse this will get..."

She grabs me roughly by the hand as our group begins to dash up the slope. My feet are already aching in my brown leather boots. I can feel blisters bubbling between my toes... but Karane is insistent that Link is nearby.

We're close to the doorway, just like in the previous temple, that must be our path forward. Yet... there's a shadowed figure watching us, leaning casually against the doorframe. His blue eyes are almost laughing beneath the thick lense of his goggles as he watches us, silent.

Pipit narrows his eyes, determination setting over him as he presses his lips together, thrusting his sword forward. "Friend or foe?" he demands.

"Isn't that an interesting question..." the creature replies.

  9. "Wow... that guy was difficult" Pipit mumble, wiping the sweat from his brow "It doesn't help that this place is so damn hot!"

"Ok..." Bryarly says "Well we did a good job defeating that guy, but how are we meant to proceed from here?"

I look around me, taking in the layout of this room. A large stone island sits in the middle of the room, and I can see various platforms dotted around the edge of the space. As I stare around my in wonder and awe, I can't help but mull over how we're meant to go on. We can't exactly walk on lava.

"Yo!" comes a loud shout from across the lava.

We all whip around, turning to look at the source of the voice. One of the mogma sists in his little hole in the ground, waving at us across the vast room.

"It's you guys again! What might you be doin' here?" he shouts.

"We're still looking for Link and Zelda," Leala shouts back.

"Well ya lil' friend took my bomb bag and made his way deeper into the temple, why don'tcha follow on?"

  10. (Hehe! That made me chuckle :D )

Just as I think we're safe, a loud trumpeting noise erupts from above us. We all look up, startled by this sudden interruption. A bokoblin sits atop a large tower, holding some kind of horn. It's made out of what appears to be animal bone or tusk, and lets out a loud noise.

    "He's summoning help," Fledge mumbles.

"We've got to do something, quick!" Bryarly says.

Pipit laughs "Relax, I've got this." He makes his way over towards a small patch of bomb flowers. He picks one, running cautiously with it towards the base of the tower. He stoops downwards, bowling the bomb underneath the tower just as it explodes. The bokoblin lets out a loud screech as the wooden structure collapses down. He disappears into a puff of smoke on the other end of the tower, which now acts as a bridge to cross the magma.

We all clamber over the make-shift bridge. We run through a tunnel infested with flaming bats, climb a giant vine wall, and tackle the biggest chuchu that I've ever seen. But eventually, we find ourselves facing something all too familiar.

"Oh goddess, not again!" I exclaim, studying the large sand slop laid out before us.

Leala sighs "Right, come on, let's head up!"

  11. "Oh my goddess..." I mumble, watching all the bokoblins screeching at us from platforms half way up. I swallow hard, trying to suss out the situation.

"What are meant to do?" Bryarly asks, looking between us.

"We could always run it," Leala suggests.

Fledge frowns "yeah, but then what if the bokoblins come after us?"

"Then we fight them off!" Pipit replies.

We all nod to each other, lining ourselves up along the foot of the slope. With a countdown from Karane, we all begin to run. We split left and right so we can move around the platform and get up on top of it. By the time we reach the platform, I'm running dangerously low on stamina. My heart is thudding hard against my chest and I'm short for breath, but we're here. Leala quickly tackles the bokoblin and sends him flying down the sandy slope, before something rolls past me.

I frown, turning to look further up the slope to where a bokoblin stands, a large boulder in his hands. He throws it downhill, aiming at Bryarly who jumps out the way in the last second.

"What do we do about that guy?" she yelps.

  12. "Well? What are we waiting for?" Leala asks, pulling her sailcloth from her adventure pouch.

One by one, we all use our sailcloths to travel using the upgusts. We're transported to a new level with a pathway that forks off in multiple directions.

I sigh "Darn... it's like the 'which path to take' conundrum all over again!"

"Well, I've got a simpler solution this time," Pipit says.

    "What's that?" Karane asks.

"Eenie, meenie, mini, mo" he says, before settling one arm pointed down a pathway. "Lets go!"

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Fledge asks, looking a little concerned "shouldn't  we think it over?"

"Nope, we're off!" Pipit replies, straightening his belt and heading down the pathway.

We find ourselves in a room full of lots of stone boulders. Little squealing animals hide underneath the rocks and breathe fire as we attempt to cross certain pathways, but they're quickly dealt with by rolling a bomb. Once we've crossed this crowded room, we find ourselves stood in front of large, strong upgust.

"Wow..." I breathe "That's massive! Where do you think it goes?"

"Only one way to find out," Leala replies

  13. (There's a weird mound that you can enter. you do a sky-dive type thing from there and the guy inside gives you your mogma mits for killing the bokoblins? That's where we are!)

"Lets go into that mound! Please!" Pipit begs.

I sigh "I guess there's no harm in it. For all we know, that could be where Link is, or Zelda!"

    "Fine," Bryarly says "Let's go!"

One by one, we all jump down to the lower path. It takes us a few moments to ready our sail cloths and proceed further. One by one, we use the up gusts and our sailclothes to propel us towards the entrance of the strange rock mound. I peer over the edge of metal grate, judging the view below.

"Sheesh..." Emzy mumbles "It looks like a steep drop..."

"We're here now!" Karane says, "let's go!"

  14. We press on together, following the path. Eventually, we reach a more open clearing. The pathway then stems in two different directions, the way leading left heads to nothing but a dead end. The way leading right, however, drops down to a whole new area.

"I take it we're heading left?" Emzy asks, looking at the path.

"Hold on," Pipit says, cutting her off "I want to know what's in that weird rock!"

I turn to look at the central area where a large domed boulder stands. There's a small opening cut in the southern facing edge of the rock, with a metal grate just below. I presume it's an entrance to some sort of place. Large gusts blow up from the path below, allowing people to enter.

"Oh," I frown "That looks strange."

"Yeah..." Bryarly mumbles "So which way do we go?"

  15. "Well aren't they frickin' charming," Karane mumbles sarcastically as she replaces her sword in it's scabbard.

I laugh a little, shrugging "all right, just ignore them Karane. They're probably just afraid they'll loose their 'turf' as they put it! Don't think about it, let's just press on!"

"So how are we meant to press on?" Bryarly asks, frowning.

"Hmm..." Fledge says, looking around "There's only really one path to take! So come on!"

We all nod, heading off along the stone pathway. We make our way into a small cave area, where we have to negotiate the timing of rising and falling levels of lava. It's scary and I won't lie, my heart is thudding by the time we finally reach the other side. The flaming bats that attack us are no help either.

But eventually we pass the lava area, and find ourself in another cave room. This one is full of little round blue flowers... they look kind of dangerous... another one of the creatures we met before sits in the centre of the room looking rather bored.

  16. "Ok..." Karane says "I think we're all agreed that we're going nowhere near that stuff unless we want to burn to a crisp! Anyway, enough about that, let's just move on and find Link!"

"Which way would he have gone?" I ask, looking around.

"I don't know," Emzy replies "But lets just follow the path and see where it takes us, there's bound to be a clue somewhere!"

So that's exactly what they do. Karane, Pipit, and Emzy walk ahead of the group, swords at the ready just in case anything attacks us. It takes us a little while to follow the path, but eventually we reach a more open area. There's a large stony mound in the middle with air gusts leading up towards it.

"What's that?" Bryarly asks, nodding towards it.

"I don't know..." Pipit replies "But come on! Let's go check it out!"

We all grin at each other, breaking out into a run as we head along the path. I think if I'm honest with you, we're all really starting enjoy this adventuring malarky... turns out these quests have their perks too! We're close to reaching the area we want to investigate, when suddenly two creatures pop up from the ground in front of us.

Pipit lets out a suppressed yelp and points his sword at the creature as Emzy takes a step forward, one eyebrow raised.

"Enough of ya' creeps movin' in on our turf!" one creature yells.

    "EXCUSE ME!?" Emzy screeches.

"You 'eard us!" His companion replies "first the red ones, then two of you guys... and all of yus... we was 'ere first! Scram!"

  17. "I don't know... back to the old lady at the Sealed Temple?" Fledge asks "She seemed pretty clued up last time..."

"That sounds like a plan to me!" I reply, giving him a bright smile. We all have to wait around for a little while as Karane gets up and has her breakfast of soup and bread. It's a hearty start to the day. Eventually we all meet by the back door. We're all dressed in clean uniforms, we've had plenty of rest and food to eat. We all have our equipment ready thanks to Kina. She gives us all hugs and wishes us luck in finding Link and Zelda. And once we're ready, we step out the door.

"So," Emzy says, looking around at us all "back to the sealed temple?"

"I don't think so!" Bryarly laughs.

    "What? Why?" Pipit queries.

"Look!" Bryarly exclaims, pointing far across the sky. To the north of the vast cloud barrier, my eyes suddenly fall on a tall red column of light. It's just like the one we saw before that lead to Faron woods...

    "Wow!" Karane breathes.

"Well..." I say "That must be where Link has gone... right?"

"Exactly!" Emzy laughs "So what are we waiting for? Come on! There's obviously more on the surface that we haven't explored yet!"

  18. (It's Leala for the fanfic and Emzy for here!)

"It's all good!" Pipit exclaims "Kina says everything's fine! We can stay here overnight. She says she understands what we're doing" We can have a good dinner of pumpkin soup, get a good nights sleep, then head out to find Link in the morning!"

"Yes!" Emzy celebrates by pumping the air with her fist.

We al laugh and giggle as we make our way into the lumpy pumpkin through the back door. The air in here is warm and the whole places smells of the sweet spicy scent of pumpkin. Kina greets us with a warm smile, taking us all around the back of the restaurant to try and avoid the customers... we don't really want to get seen unless we absolutely have to.

"Here's where you'll be staying, girls!" Kina says, showing us into a little room with two beds. "And there's two more identical rooms next door for the rest of you!" She squeals "Enjoy your stay! I'll bring you your dinner in about half an hour! Feel free to use the bathroom to freshen up or anything... if you leave your dirty uniforms in the tub I'll clean them overnight!"

"Thanks Kina!" I exclaim, that really means a lot to me.

    *Later that night*

I'm tucked up in the warmth of my own comforting bed. The restaurant is now remarkably quieter, though I can still hear the odd drunken customer in the next room. I sigh, rolling over in my bed. Emzy and I are sharing a room, just like we do back at the Knight Acadamny. It's only been one day... but it feels so much longer.

"Hey Emzy?" I whisper "Are you awake?"

    "Yuh-huh," she mumbles sleepily.

I sigh "Are we doing the right thing? Trying to follow Link?"

"Of course we," she whispers "we're knights, this is what we do..."

"I guess..." I mumble "Night Emzy."

    "Night," she replies.

  19. "Hold on," Pipit says, "before we do that, let's sort out what will happen with our parents! Headmaster Geapora warned us not to go near the column of light and that's exactly what we did! We'll be in trouble, Bryarly is right!

"Well how about this..." Fledge mumbles "we could stay at the lumpy pumpkin? Just for one night? It'll restore our health and keep us away from our parents, then in the morning we'll set out looking for clues as to where Link has gone!"

I give him a warm smile "you're smarter than you let on, Fledge!"

His cheeks flush a little as he looks down, embarrassed. He's not such a bad little guy...

"Perfect!" Emzy says, rubbing her hands together "So Bryarly, what's your plan for the bird statues?"

"Ok," she says, making her way over to the one stood just outside the temple "Everyone get your sailcloth's out."

We do as she asks and we all begin to crowd around the bird statue. Bryarly is stood directly in fron of it, sailcloth grasped in her hands. She mutters something under her breath... presumably a prayer... and then suddenly an almighty gust of wind spirals from underneath us. We all yelp in surprise as we're thrown up, off our feet, propelled towards the sky.

  20. "And how do you propose we do that when we can't even get through this stupid barrier!" Karane says, clearly frustrated by the situation.

"Hey, now," Pipit says, gently stroking her arm to try and calm her down "There's no need to get mad about this. We just need to find a solution."

I rub my temples as I try to get my point across "Don't you get it? There is no solution! He's locked us out!"

Emzy gives me her worst look as she crosses her arms. "Fine then, let's just sit and wait, Link has to come out of there at some point!"

So that's exactly what we did. We sat on the floor and waited. We talk about how crazy this adventure is, how we still don't know where Zelda is. We worried about Link and whether or not he was ok. And eventually, the diamond barrier vanished.

"Look!" Fledge says, tapping my arm "Ghirahim must have gone!"

"Come on then!" Bryarly says. We all jumped to our feet and ran through the doorway. One by one we all made our way across a string tightrope to the other side of the vast drop in the floor. Standing right in front of us is the vast golden door that Link passed through. Pipit runs into the room, eagerly looking around him for Link.

"It's empty..." he says, his voice said "Link's gone."

"So now what?" I ask, feeling my heart sink.

"Back to Skyloft I guess," Bryarly says.

"Yeah," Emzy agrees "There's got to be a clue there!"

  21. "I guess you're right..." I murmur, drawing shapes on the ground with the tip of my finger.

"Hey, that's an advantage!" Pipit says, jumping up to his feet as he dusts of his now slightly dirtied yellow tunic "If Link's come through here, he would have already found a way onwards!"

"Pipit's right!" Emzy announces, jumping up too "Ok! Everybody get on your feet! We're looking for an open door! Come on! Get moving!"

We all roll our eyes, climbing up and setting to work looking around the room. I'm still surprised by exactly how huge it is. We're attacked by a number of creatures, including bats and the large spiders, and a couple more of the troll monsters... but eventually, we hear a strange clanking noise, it sounds metallic...

"What was that?" Bryarly asks, whizzing around.

"It's coming from over here!" Fledge calls. He stands on the opposite side of the room from where we entered. He's right next to a doorway, it's clear that it once had a metal grate blocking it, but it's now been moved. We all crowd around him, readying ourselves to push forward into the next room.

Bryarly is first to reach the doorway, but as she runs on, she quickly collides into something. As she clambers up to her feet in a dazed confusion, my eyes fall on a large red and brown diamond print barrier.

    "What?" Pipit yelps.

"My my, you are persistent little brats, aren't you?" Comes a soft, threatening voice.

We all turn suddenly, gasping in shock as we see him. I narrow my eyes, lips pressed together in frustration. I'd recognise him anywhere... the long red cape, pale white hair... the diamonds...

"Ghirahim!" Karane yells, drawing her sword.

She dives at him, flailing her blade. But as she tip of the sword nears Ghirahim, he reaches out, pulling it towards him with a strange red power that emanates from his finger tips... we all gasp in surprise as the blade is pulled from Karane's hand.

Ghirahim smirks "What a pathetic excuse for a weapon. At least your little friend brought along a somewhat decent blade,"

"Link..." Bryarly breathes "Where is he! What have you done with him?"

We all watch as Ghirahim cackles with laughter "What an adorable little sky child. Fear not, for I have not encountered the boy yet... well oh look, talk of the devil..."

He points one long thin finger over the diamond barrier. We all turn, looking through the diamond shapes into the next room. There Link stands... he's dressed not in his usual Skyloft clothes, but instead in a uniform much like Pipit's, only green... In his hands he holds a strange golden object, which he twists and turns as he tries to push it into the lock on the large golden door before him.

    "LINK!" I yell "LINK!"

Ghirahim smirks again "Don't bother trying, skychild, the boy can't hear you. This barrier here is soundproof... though that's not really why I put it here. I have a matter to settle with the boy... and I can't be having you petulant children toddling in my way..."

Wow! Sorry that's so long... I got completely carried away!

  22. We race back across the temple to the main room. I can't believe how crazy this is all is... we're dungeon crawling! It's something I've only ever read about in fantasy books, I never thought I'd be doing it in real life...

As we enter back into the main room I can clearly see the locked and chained door on the other side of the water... but there's already a path across. The raised water level means that we can reach the other side by running over a large wooden log floating on the surface of the water.

Emzy and Pipit run on ahead, eager to find Link and proceed further in the temple. We all jump over the log, the water splashing around us as the log sinks just an inch or two. Pipit rummages through his pocket, pulling out a large silver key and slipping it into the lock.

I watch in silence at the pad locks splits open and the chains fall down from the floor. Pipit turns to us all, a wide grin on his face as he stoops down, gripping the bottom of the stone door. Bryarly eager squeezes my hand and we make our way through the now open doorway.

As we enter the next room, I'm taken aback by it's massive scope. It's a large room, with hints of golden sunlight falling through the tiniest cracks in the ceiling. Large spiders hang from their silky strings as they watch click their antennae together.

    "Wow..." Emzy breathes.

  23. "I don't get it..." I whisper "We've been in every single room and found no keys! How can that door still be locked?" I point at the door at the head of the room.

"Well..." Emzy replies "We still couldn't get to the other side of that room with the one spider! Where we found the first gemstone... maybe that's where we can find our answer?"

"LOOK!" Pipit says, jumping down from the tree trunk where we all stand "The water level has taken this log up! We can climb up those vines, they'll take us through to the other side of that room! Maybe the key will be there?"

One by one we all jump down from the tree branch, following Pipit's instructions to use the log to climb up the vines, pausing only so Karane can kill a spider with her slingshot. And sure enough, just as he predicted, there's a large stone door on the upper level.

Leala presses on, stooping down to pull up the door. We all step through, finding ourselves back in that same room, only on the other side. A large spider hands grom the ceiling, looking menacing, but Karane quickly tackles it with a few stabs from her sword.

"Great!" We all grin. I turn around, looking at the treasure chest... but it's blocked by metal bars. I sigh "Now what are we supposed to do about that?"

Karane steps a little closer, her sword still in hands. Suddenly, eyes snap open on either side of the grill. It's a little unnerving, they just stare silently at the tip of Karane's blade.

    "What the..." Bryarly begins.

"Hold on..." whispers Karane "I think I've got an idea..."

  24. Emxy takes her slingshot, aiming a deku seed into one of the vines. We all watch in stunned silence as the vine slowly uncurls. Emzy quickly fires another shot into the vine just behind and then proceeds to jump onto the vine, using it to swing onto the next one and launching herself onto the other platform. She turns back wuicly, gesturing to us all to follow her over.

One by one we jump onto the vines and swing over, it makes my stomach churn as I feel my body being propelled through the air. Pipit had followed directly behind Emzy, so he's already tackling the first spider. With one quick stab with his sword he plunges the silver blade into the stomach of the beast. There's a slow clicking noise as the spider disintegrates in a purple puff of smoke.

"Nice work, Pipit!" Karane compliments him.

"Ok... Bryarly says, where are we meant to go from here?"

  25. "Ok" Bryalry says, trying to wring the worst of the water from her clothes "The gemstone I hit was above, now we need to find the one that's below!"

"Well..." Emzy says "The other room is probably flooded now too, if we head back, we might be able to find something!"

"Let's go for it!" Pipit says.

We all run along the small platform, heading back towards the main room. As Emzy predicted, the water level has now risen dramatically.

Callia frowns "What? How could there possibly be one below when the whole room is flooded?"

    "Unless..." Karane mumbles, looking thoughtful.

    "What?" Emzy asks.

"Maybe it couldn't be reached until the water level rose..." she says, then almost instantaneously  she begins to run. She dives straight off the platform and into the deep water. Her friends watch with open mouthsas she begins swimming underneath all the arches.

"What are you doing?" Fledge asks, nervously laughing.

"Looking for the one below of course!" Karane says. Her friends all exchange bemused glances with one another as Callia leans over the edge of the platform, looking for Karane.

"I hate to say this..." she says "But I really doubt there's going to be-"

"FOUND IT!" Karane shouts. There's small rippling noise as she clambers out of the water, a quick clang of metal, and then suddenly the bars slide up on a door across the room.

    Emzy grins "Nice work Karane!"

And with that, the troop of trainee knights take off, running towards the door.

"Wait for me!" Karane shouts, clambering up from the water.
