Hello? Who's there?

I tend to need to be invested prior to making any kind of purchase. I've been aware of Saga for a while for instance, but since I have no idea/interest in what it's about, and the art style isn't interesting to me, I've never gone any further about looking into it.
 
There are a couple comics which I bought because I'd already read them in the past, and then some others which drew me in based on art alone. Like I've been meaning to get a Frank book ever since LL posted Visions of Frank yeeears ago. I would have bought The Frank Book today if I could have found it in stock anywhere. Unfortunately all I could find was an incomplete paperback and Fran, which is like the third book or something. So instead I went for this recommended book which caught my eye, How To Be Happy, by Eleanor Davis.
 
Like, this art style is beautiful.
 

 

 

 
So I'm going to enjoy gawking at that once I get it sometime next week.
 
Frank's style is somewhat more compelling for the sake of surrealism, but I can appreciate some stunning colour palettes while I wait for that to get in stock. I'm gonna stare at my Paul Klee book in anticipation. I want to use colours this effectively.

I mean there's always a worse "evil" in the world that you can throw in the face of someone who feels strongly about something. "How can you care about a CVS when many black churches are being burned?"

"How can you care about black churches being burned when ______ is happening??!"

"How can you care about _____ when ______ is happening!"

It's just an endless and dumb cycle. No one can be personally affected by anyhing. They have to be a cosmic, collective hive mind that is aware of all suffering of every degree.


You can't attack someone for caring about something just because there's a bigger problem a few months later/a few miles away. It's good to be mindful of others' suffering, but when a bigger and badder problem comes along, people aren't and CANNOT retroactively "take back" their suffering. It's like hanging out at a funeral and saying "wow, grow up guys. People are dying of starvation, and you have the GALL to mourn this guy who died of natural causes!??"


It just seems like you want a spectrum of oppression and pain. Suffering is suffering. Of course it does help to ease/work through suffering by being knowledgable about the world around you, but there's literally no point in categorizing and "rating" pain

 
 
I'm coming for you

Started playing coop Halo: CE yesterday. They've redone the graphics, so it looks really nice but lol I forgot how simple it was. You can actually toggle between the old version and the new while you play. Nostalgic, though. We've been playing on heroic and seriously had the best time, I'll flip over a vehicle on my bf accidentally and it's just insta-death. Stupid shit like that, we were crying from laughing so hard.

I forgot how short the game is? We are almost finished with it..idk, a lot of it seemed repetitive especially toward the end with the flood areas. 2001 I guess

Ganny, while it's true that in your lifetime, you may never have taken a single person to flavor town, we the prosecution would contest that you have certainly made a trip to flavor town yourself, and as a consequence, actively PREVENTED an innocent victim from their own promise of reaching said flavor town. As evidence, we present IRC chat logs from the fateful day of April the 20th, in which the defendant admitted to stealing a Jimmy John's sandwich greasy enough to make Guy Fieri himself salivate. He then proceeded to eat the sandwich in question, knowing full well its dubious origin, and thus prioritizing flavor induced euphoria, i.e. "flavor town", over the fundamental virtue of honesty, as well as the well being of the true sandwich owner.

ordered ummm halo: the master chief edition because it has halo: ce - halo 4? I think? mainly I got it as another split screen coop for my boy and I, he's never played halo, ever (????) and I haven't played 3 or 4, and he has this xbox one thing, and also it's $27 on amazon

I don't think there's an accurate scientific way to measure the distance between two metaphorical heights based on inconsistent units, without telling me what these numbers mean.
