This is true. I'm not sure what the correct term would be, but I believe it would be the Mestizo race (Which I am a part of), who constitute much of the population of Latin America. In the United States, however, they are used interchangeably, it seems.

Mestizo is simply European Spanish (that's a bit redundant) mixed with indigenous American peoples, like the tainos in Cuba.

Actually I think that would make me something of a mestizo - my Cuban grandmother's family is from Spain, and my grandfather is from Cuba.

And Lionheart, no need to get all defensive. I know what you mean, it really doesn't matter at all. People are people, racism is pointless, etc.

(p.s. "Caucasian" derives from the Caucasus region in Europe. I think is mountainous...I'll have to look that up.)
