For the record, we were watching Wall-E in my dorm's lobby the other day, and I asked out loud to myself how are they all breathing in their space ship, and have been doing so for the past 700 years if Earth isn't capable of supporting life anymore and there's not plant life? My friend pointed out that in our modern day world we have the technology to make oxygen molecules. The only catch is that its very difficult and expensive to do. They can do it in the future with their technology, though.

But even then, you can't make molecules when you have no atoms to work with.
