A lot of Canadians fly to the U.S. to get certain medical treatments because they can't get them in Canada. Prime Minister Williams traveled to the U.S. this February for heart surgery that he could not get in Canada.

Hawaii has had this plan for the past 40 years... They don't seem to be complaining.

Hawaii is a small, isolated state, it is fairly easy for them to have universal healthcare due to size, proximity, and the high revenue from the area's visitors. Hawaii's system does not translate well to an entire country. It's a good system, for them, not for the U.S. We don;t have the money or the interstate infrastructure.

Exactly.

Also-Demorcrats in Congress-Who the fuck do you think you are? Trying to vote on a portion of the bill and not telling the citizens who voted which way or how many yes/no votes there are, so even if you don't actually pass it, you can just BS pass it? (Which, by the way, is a violation of the Constitution.)

I'll say what I said last time.

Kimmy, my healthcare plan is so good that the company no longer offers it, however, since we have been paying into it, they can't drop us randomly like that.

I'm guessing this care is exclusive to you and you are not considering that you are not the only person in the United States.

Saha, heres a common misconception for you:

33% of Americans are uninsured or underinsured.

^Why is this bullshit?^

Because, that number takes into account people who, say if they were switching jobs, and lacked health insurance for a week. Also, this number also includes illegals and people who can afford healthcare without insurance (High income). Also, it looks at several years, and excludes everyone who is 65+. (They already have medicare.)

The actual number, who permanately do not have health insurance and cannot afford healthcare, are legal citizens, and inculdes those who are 65+?

About 3%.

Let me put UH into perspective.

Your somewhat wealthy neighbor(America) suddenly decides to buy a Bugatti and a private jet, triple the size of his home, and to top it all off, travel around the world for a year.

However, since he spent so much money, he is in an insane amount of debt(China practically owns us.). Even though he makes a large salary (Our GDP), its not nearly enough to pay off the debt in a reasonable amount of time. However, knowing this, he decides to buy a few gold statues of himself(UH), like his friends did. However, his friends bought them from a guy who cheated them and gave them gold-plated copper statues. He decides to buy his statue from the same guy. However, he is going to get the statue in parts over 3 years(the tax that will be implemented for 3 yrs before the UH goes into effect is represented by these pieces).

Over time, he collects alot of statue parts. However, he wants to buy some very rare and expensive diamond jewelry. So, he strips the gold from the statue parts to pay for that, instead of what it was supposed to go to(Represents what our government usually does).

After the three years, he has copper parts, but no gold, so he assembels the statue anyways. It stays beautiful for a while (Shows that our healchcare system, will be for a short while, still the best healthcare avaliable), but eventually, the copper oxidieses, tarnishing its beauty (Our UH system will decay.).

Here are some examples of the UH "success" from around the world:

Massachusetts: Apparently, politicans thought that this would reduce overcrowded emergency rooms. In fact, patient visits rose by 7% and costs increased 18%.

France: 19% of workers wages go twoards UH. 90% of Workers purchase complimentary health coverage.

Italy: 70 day wait for a mammogram on average. If you have cancer, it could get alot worse in 70 days.

Great Britan: 20% of patients with TREATABLE colon cancer are considered INCURABLE at the time treatment is avaliable. (BONUS: Prime Minister Gordon Brown-"I would love to get rid of our system and have something that puts patients in charge rather than doctor's unions and bureaucrats in charge.")

Canada: The Canadian Supreme Court ruled that the government must stop restricting the private sector from providing healthcare when the national system fails. (Which happens alot). (BONUS: Chief Justice Beverly McLachlin wrote: "Access to a waiting list is not access to healthcare.")

Cuba:Induced abortion is the country's most popular birth control method, and has been used to minimize the frequency of infant mortality.

Greece: 5000 practicioners are needed to meet demand. There are only about 600. Doctors take bribes from patients to get earlier appointments.

Its also not even free. Here is some data on how much healthcare costs are paid out of pocket. Note that, the US is the only country without UH.

United States:~14%

France:~10%

Germany:~11%

Ireland:~13%

Canada:~15%

Denmark:~15%

Finland:~20%

Italy:~22%

Spain:~23%

Switzerland:~32%

Healthcare scanners(Per million people):

United States:~27 MRI; 34 CT

Canada:7 MRI; 12 CT

France:5 MRI; 10 CT

UK:7 MRI; 8 CT

Right. That's a problem they have to deal with in Canada that has nothing to do with the fact that healthcare is universal.
