An operating system is like Windows, Linux, OSx, BSD, etc. You could got even further, like Windows 98, Windows xp, linux kernel ver 2.4, linux kernel ver 2.6, etc. Get into versions and stuff. Anyway, I installed ubuntu on my Laptop but I can't access the internet with it. All the manuals are for an earlier version! I'm using the home computer now . Posted 21 Apr 2008 Well, unless you have drivers for your wireless, ur not gone get interent to work until u either compile drivers for it, or plug in a Ethernet cable into the RJ-45 jack. My laptop has a wireless device that's unsupported by linux so......no wireless for me in linux. If you want to try linux or any other operating system for that matter and have a fast computer, you can use this (Microsoft Virtual PC 2007) to run it.
